When my dad passed in 2010, I purchased an Oris Aquis Date as a way of remembering him! โค๐
I would love to do the same to remember my beautiful and caring mother, who sadly passed away today.
Her last few years with us were riddled with poor health and Parkinson's disease.
Thank god, she's is now at peace!!
My mother was very quirky and loved colours. I'm thinking, may a microbrand, with a budget of around ยฃ1000. Ideally, between 38mm to 40mm.
Any suggestions my fellow crunchers?

So sorry for your loss Gray. Thatโs a sweet way of remembering her. My favorite quirky pieces from Mr. Jones but not sure if thatโs too down-market for you.
Iโve never owned either brand, but I would be looking at Zelos or Zodiac (preowned) if I were you. Zelos has a great selection of funky, colorful watches. All of those should be within budget. Zodiac is a step up from Zelos in price, but it appears to have better finishing and movements
I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I happened to be in an AD looking at Hamilton Ventura today, and that certainly fits the quirky part of your request. Take a look, at least. I hope you find a way to honour your Mother.

I've never seen them before! They are certainly quirky ๐

Ventura is out there. I'm notsure I can pull that off ๐ฌ

I'm definitely considering the Zodiac ๐ฅ๐......

It comes in less adventurous forms, but I say wear it and own it. Flamboyant, maybe, but then why shouldn't you be? If not the Ventura, I hope you find something else suitable.
I'm not very wise when it comes to colourful and fun watches, so I can't help you on that front. What I can say is that I'm very sorry for your loss. Keep well and wear whatever watch you choose in good health.
So sorry for your loss, Gray. I have always found the Nomos Club Campus to be a beautiful watch that comes in fun and bright colors. Not specifically sporty, but versatile enough to be dressy or casual. One microbrand I like is Sternglas, and they have a colorful and very affordable watch, Naos Edition Kรผste. Whatever your choice, I hope you find a way to bring to mind good memories of your mum. โค
I did the same last year when Mum died, Tudor BB58. This year Dad followed her, Longines Hydroconquest.

Beautiful way to remember our loved ones โค๐
One other brand sprang to mind. Check out Alain Silberstein. Most of the collector-level watches will be out of your price range, but I saw some nice quartz pieces on Chrono24 that are near your budget

Thanks watch friend! Nomos is a great shout! โค
Gray..I am so sorry for your loss. I am certain that you were your motherโs greatest pride. Nothing I can write on WC could assuage your grief but I would offer one piece of unsolicited advice - perhaps wait a couple of days before making a choice.
Condolences.
Might I suggest the Studio Underdog Field watch, available in some insane color choices, mechanical, great size, micro brand, colorful lume as well and I believe under budget.
Have fun with it and the color while rembering your mother in that same colorful and fun light she adored.
Hey, accept my condolences. Why not consider a maen? They are elegant and sporty as every mom.
Condolences mate.
Lost my Mum a few years ago, bought myself my SM300 to remember her by .
Much love to you mate .

Thanks buddy. My mum loved orange, so I'm thinking the orange Nomos Club Campus โค๐ฅ
I bought the green Alpinist to honor my Mother (She was quite the adventurer in her day). I see An Islander Fireball in your future. It canโt help but make you smile and enjoy a great pop of color
I was thinking this one
But he already has an Oris.
My condolences for your loss. My mother passed away in 2022. Although I didn't specifically intend for this purchase to be a sentimental object to remember her by, I had ordered my SARX033 a few weeks prior to her passing, and it arrived in the mail a couple of days afterward. With everything going on at the time, I had forgotten about it. Now, it has a permanent place in my collection, and it brings me a bit of comfort and peace when I wear it, as I think of her. As far as a recommendation, since you mentioned a microbrand - I'd go with either a CW, Farer, or my favorite - Lorier. Best wishes whatever you choose.
So sorry for your loss. I am glad sheโs now at peace. My grandmother died with Parkinsonโs so Iโve seen itโs wrath up close.
My father was diagnosed with Alzheimerโs this year so I have begun this downward journey with him.
As far as watches go Iโd probably try to choose a color that was a favorite and something rather elegant as a lady tends to be.
Iโm sure youโll make a decision reflective of your motherโs personality and heart.
Thanks buddy. My mum loved orange, so I'm thinking the orange Nomos Club Campus โค๐ฅ
Not that it matters, but I think that is a great choice. I saw some others mention Nomos and thought it might be a little tall for your budget. If you can swing it, that is a fun vibrant watch that isn't a novelty...which is a fine line to walk IMO.
Sorry about your loss. I lost my dad a couple months ago after a long battle with cancer. The end of suffering is a bitter pill, no matter how you wash it down. Your idea to honor/remember her with a watch is a great gesture. Love it!

Parkinsons is an awful disease. I'm sorry to hear about your father too. Wishing that his journey is not to painful or distressing ๐
And yes, the colour and some elegance. Definitely leaning towards the orange Nomos Club Campus, as it fits the bill perfectly!

Sorry to hear about your dad. It's horrible to see the person you love suffer. He's at peace now ๐
Mine passed in 2010 from Asbestosis. I still miss him. Again, a horrible condition!
My mum and dad are now together! When I get the watch to remember my mum, it will sit next to the Oris, which I brought to remember my dad. They will also be together in the crematorium when mum's ashes are spread next my dadโค๐
But he already has an Oris.
Yea, I saw that. I thought it would be good to have 2.
Sorry to hear of your loss. Back in 2006, I purchased a Rolex Datejust, back when as big as they got was 36mm and you could buy them out of the case, to memorialize mom. BTW, it was the most I had ever spent on myself for a luxury item.
With your budget, a micro brand perhaps? A Christopher Ward or such.
Let us know what you decide.
Fireball! My birthday present from my wife!
Congrats on your good taste.
But he might want something a little more "tame". ๐
