My Fellow Seiko lovers.

I have been wanting a Panda Chronograph for my next Seiko

We have two Seiko Quartz Chronographs

The SSC813 and the New SSC911

Which one do you prefer ?

Thank you.

I prefer the 813 because by chance I am wearing my "Seitona" right now. It gets worn often, and has gotten several complements.

I like the 911 because (and I can't believe I'm saying this) the dual-colored bezel gives it another visual layer of interest.

It also looks a little bit more proportional

They are both nice, but would lean towards the pop of red.

I think most of us (like me) were intreged by the SSC813 similarity to the Rolex Daytona. It's a great watch and asked myself this question. But in my opinion and being honest to myself and to you, I think the 911 is much better refined. The dimensions are better and the Indizes are much thicker giving the dial more struckter and much more lume.

Anyway....I wouldn't leave without mentioning some alternatives:

Glycine Combat Chronograph 43mm Quartz

It seems this models is discontinued since few weeks and replaced by an invicta colaboration 😭😭😭

But you can still find it quite cheak for at least half price of the Seiko but great manufacturing quality of Glycine which never disappoints.

A Bicompax but still a honorable mention for falf the price of Seiko.

I mentioned them also in my latest part of the series about affordable german watch brands part 3.

The 813 mainly for the cleaner dial outline and Bezel.

The 813 wears small…not sure if that is a factor

Go strong, go special, go SFJ001 ;)

For me, it’s all about size. 39mm, SSC 813, works better for my wrist size.

Your wrist size may vary…😉

·

I Love the red details of the SSC911 looks very sporty

·

Don’t forget the SLBD085 which is the JDM ref for the SSC813. Mine was less expensive than the 813.

There is a Diver Version O.o

I will go with the SSC911 which I own and adore how good it looks.

Get the 813 and put a strapcode bracelet on it and never look back.

·

I've had them both and prefer my SSC911 Both are great watches it just came down to the little things like a Red second hand, Better Lume etc..

If you actually use the chronograph and it’s not just wrist decoration, I’d think hard about the 813. I own the 813 and in my opinion the registers are so small they’re hard to read.

Get the 813 and put a strapcode bracelet on it and never look back.

No doubt the Strapcode bracelet takes this watch to another level.

Both have got positives and drawbacks. The 813 has got the better size, better dial and hand color combo. Imo I don't like that not all 3 sub dials are of the same size. And I'm on the fence about the bezel.

The 911, better bezel, better sizing of the sub dials. But they ruined it with the red. Looks too much like a Zenith.

If I had to choose between the two I’d get the SSC911. That is only because I had the SSC813 and sold it.

Even though I have a puny wrist I found the 813 too small especially the lower sub dial with the unnecessary F/E gauge. That wasn’t the reason I let it go though. For a panda I disliked the purple hue of the sub dials (even though I like that it was solar). I also disliked the useless 24hr sub dial and the (IMHU) dreadful date window. I tried it on a strap which to me improved the watch as the end link integration onto the case of the bracelet was poor.

As I said I ended up selling it and replacing it with a Certina DS-2 presidrive. Clearly not a panda but IMHO a better watch in every aspect apart from not being solar.

Im 813 all the way, but the new mechanical Speedtimers are 🔥

It's hard to choose between two things that are excellent but the 813 gets the nod. I think it looks even better than the Roll X, or whatever that microbrand is called.
