Omega peeps - Will there be a new Snoopy? Moonswatch on the moon?

So a NASA team is headed to the moon again, the first time in quite a while.

Wonder if Omega has some kind of sponsorship lock on what the astronauts wear on their wrists?

It’d be a huge media coup if they do. Yet another swatch group story that could breakthrough to mainstream media.

And more moon news from yesterday:

Huge lineups and people waiting overnight, again. The frothing at the mouth madness for a grey plastic quartz moon swatch continues unabated.

this was another one day sale at certain ADs for one with a plated gold second hand, that now features a small #3 on it. (Because it’s 3rd full moon yesterday, I think🤪)

Would be funny (and a bit horrifying) if somehow a moonswatch into gets into the capsule or onto an astronauts wrist.

Welcome your thoughts on all this. I’m not an Omega guy, but I think for all of us the Speedy is kind of synonymous with moon news.

I hope they get a MoonSwatch to the moon... Just to shut down the snobs, and expose the silliness of it all.

When an astronaut wears a Timex or Casio to the moon, will people go crazy for them? I'm guessing not really.... It's hard to show you're better than others with a sub-$100 CAD watch on your wrist...

Nailed it. So many watches have been to space at this point, include Apple Watches and G-Shocks, it is nothing special now. At this point is just living off that OG heritage. I say this as a Speedmaster Pro owner, so no shade.

Will they make another Snoopy? Not until the next anniversary, no one is really paying attention to space travel at this point except space geeks.

The Speedy is a great watch and if I was into Chronographs it would be on my short list, alas I dislike chronographs.

For clarity, I didn't mean to denigrate the Speedy, it's a great watch. I just hate the snobbery that seems to stick to it, and a few other (now) luxury models.

Omega wouldn't have been selected by NASA if they were a "luxury" brand back in the 60s, just like Rolex wouldn't have been selected by the USN if it had been a luxury brand back then...

On the show, Colbert interviewed the astronauts - and one of them was wearing his watch - an Apple Watch

Please take a Pagani Design - lets see the meltdown if their Moonwatch gets there 🤯😭🤣🥳

Am willing to bet Rolex is making enquiries…

Doubt it, why would Rolex want to pay to be the 2nd official brand worn on the Moon.

Because it’s the big return to the moon with the intent of setting up a base. ‘Rolex, as worn on the moon. Every Day.’

Give it a few decades, and ‘Moon Made’ will be a thing. In much the same way ‘Made In Cupertino’ was on iPods.

That poor cow, 3rd time it's been milked to death, oh well it sells and folks want it, so why should we moan. And of course the plate of plenty is overflowing as now you get a microscopic 3 on the tiny hand of a subdial (and we think identifying specific vintage watches is hard) is it a gloonmold,is it a gloonmold 3,is it a gloonmold 3 rainy Wednesday.... . Fair play to omega if they get a watch up there, maybe a speedy smartwatch. As for the swoonmatch, the fun will be chasing detached pushers in zero g round the capsule🚀. Well I'm cheering on team omega. Of course the could always take this..

That'd be the ultimate dunk on Omega 😂

That pic is awesome 🤣👏.

Good movie potential if the detatched pusher comes to pass. Tom Hanks style on the radio with mission control as the figure out how to repair the life giving CO2 scrubber that's been damaged by an errant pusher getting jammed into the intake 😉

The pushers detach on the moonswatch?

I was wondering about this very thing the other day while watching an update on the Artemis program. I think it would be cool if they all wore modern Speedmaster Pro's to the moon. What do you think.. cheesy?

I think for nostalgia reasons it would be cool if Omega made some new project watch that met NASA specifications, with input from NASA, a la how the original was done. Would be an incredibly popular watch I think.

Unsure if the original NASA battery of tests is still pertinent. If they did anything like that It might surprise us that even modern watches get slayed by the -260 + 260 temps, the shock, gravity and pressure tests and other tests

Considering the Moonswatch is pretty damn breakable I doubt this would happen . . . although shutting down snobs is always good.

The pushers detach on the moonswatch?

My pushers snapped off on my Pluto. I'm using my two Moonswatches as display pieces (with the battery out) at this point as I don't want to damage them further. Found these cool and cheap stands on Etsy. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1228450510/pluto-the-official-moonstand-bioplastic?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=moonswatch+stands&ref=sr_gallery-1-4&organic_search_click=1

Shameful build quality.

Agree. Rolex does not need the headlines. But what a coup that would for Tudor. 🤔

Yes I heard this same thing from what a bit a moonswatch owners. The pushers are the first thing that breaks. I heard that the fakes that are out there are better built than the original’s. What a joke they are. So glad not to get caught up with this hype release. Almost did. Buyer beware !!!!

maybe the new 43mm Bulova moon watches will become the newest endorsement for the 🌚 watch !!

·

A real coup would be Bulova finally making it to the moon 🤣.
