Re-thinking watch size

Hello everyone! I have small wrists… (6inches)

I’m starting to realize how well smaller sizes wear on me. I generally wear 37-41mm watches, but have opened my eyes to even smaller watches. This is a 33mm Tissot Couturier “ladies” watch that I mistakenly purchased online a few years ago.

Should I save $X,XXX and buy the black bay 32 instead of the 36? 😂😂

On a side note, this pm80 runs at +3 seconds a day 😎 not bad for $170 on sale lol

That watch fits well. It all depends on the watch's proportions. I guess you won't really know until you try the BB32 in the flesh.

·

I hav 6.25” wrists and 36-37 feels like a sweet spot but I often wear a 34mm vintage Waltham

·

I'm a big fan of vintage size watches. 32mm BB would look great IMO.

·

33 & 34 mm are great sizes. I think I have two 32mm watches. They're on the smaller side but fine with me. Absolutely try one on and see for yourself.

Me too! You have quite the collection too if I’m not mistaken. You’ve been active on Watchuseek for years, right?

I have a few vintage watches but not been here that long. I'm just noisy 😁

The Tissot looks very well balanced on your wrist but you really should just wear what you want.

·

I have 7.25 wrist and wear from 35 - 44. It depends on the lugs’ curvature. I don’t like lugs pushing out the strap or bracelet away from my skin. For me, lug-to-lug has a lot of bearing on fit.

·

That Tissot looks great!

If the BB is on your radar, I'll wager either the 32 or 36 would suit you just fine.

·

33mm? Man, what are you doing with that big plate on your wrist?

Try 30mm

Image

Still too big? How about 26mm

In all seriousness, I love and prefer small watches, majority of my watches are considered small by watch community standards. Though I do have a few 38mm to 41mm. Small watches work best for me. I'm not just saying that too. People in the real world have commented that small watches suit me.

Looks great!

That's a perfect size and fit for your wrist. That is a handsome and elegant looking watch. You're rock'n it right 🤙🏽

In this generation and society, there's NO MORE real talk of "ladies" LOL 😂 What is a Woman? 🤪 Or more relevant a "Women's" watch? 🤣

A Tissot Powermatic 80 for $170 buck is a STEEL!!! Ya gotta away with robbery 😆 You can now start saving for the BB32 brother. Why not have both 😎

Stay Thirsty My Man 🍻👊🏽

Thanks bro! My thoughts exactly. I feel like I just unlocked a whole new world of watches that I’ve been ignoring previously 😂

Lmao 100% !!! And the price maybe a lot more attractive 😁

Don’t base your purchases just on the “diameter” alone, I have a 7 inch wrist. My sweet spot is “39mm” with the caveat of the “lug to lug”.. to me that seems to be more important than the diameter. I have tried on smaller watches as well (33-35mm) like the Bulova “banker” and couldn’t believe how well they fit and looked amazing as well. It was the length of the lug to lug that makes the difference

·

That looks good on you. Take note of the lug to lug.

·

Nice proportion, even the diameter is smallish, the lug size, width and length make difference, that lug is big and long, I think a 40 will make the lug protruding out from your wrist. Try to wear it behind the wrist bone, it will look even better.

·

Perfectly sized, tbh, having a smaller dress watch really makes it look elegant. I have 7" wrist and I'm still able to rock that reduced version seiko presage in a really classy way.

I think the idea of Men's and Ladies sizing of watches is a bit antiquated. If it fits, and you like the style, wear it! :-)

Your wrist, your rules, my friend!

·

Most of my watches are vintage (between 1930 and 1966) and between 30mm to 36mm. 34mm was considered a fairly big watch when my Tudor Oyster Prince 34 was launched circa 1955 during the Golden Age of watchmaking. So much so that 34 even made it onto the dial! I think your watch is great, and fits like a glove :)

Woah. That is a beautiful Seiko

·

It fits rather well but also looks quite good in general I must admit. In particular, notice how the date window is positioned in line with the markers amd not randomly in the middle of the dial. That's because the movement is the correct size for the case.

·

I care more about lug 2 lug length these days. That's the measurement that seems more important to me in terms of how a watch looks on your wrist

·

Looks clean, suits you. And yes, smaller cases is where it’s at.

Get the 2 BB32s!

·

Same, I have small wrist as well at 6.5" (but the surface the watch sits on is more like a 6" wrist size). Tried went from 42mm to 40mm and realised how much better it fits me. Then I went down to 38mm and it's even better. Now I would be looking out for 39mm and under watches.

·

That Tissot looks great on your wrist and the trend to make more smaller cased warches unisex, I think it opens the door to picking up awesome smaller variants and models of watches. I am really trending into the 33-37mm range, with 39/41mm being my top end depending on lug to lug and their curvature (think Omega here).

The 36mm Black Bay is great on a smaller wrist (I have 6.25 in), but going for a 32mm seems totally like something to explore.

·

Looks great on you!! Personally I think the BB36 would look great on you too!! All about personal taste!!

skxcellent

This 1940s 31mm Timor was supposedly designed for and marketed to USAF personnel during WWII as an upgrade from what the military supplied, and I’m told it was especially popular with US Army Air Corps personnel, ie: the guys who transferred strategic supplies to bases around the world. If THOSE “real men" thought 31mm was too dainty, they wouldn’t have worn it! (FWIW, my wrist is 7”.)
