New year, new watch community
First of all, Happy New Year. With 2024 out the gate I decided to join Watch Crunch (shout out to Ben's Watch Club for promoting it). I've been a "watchist" as long as I can remember so I've always had one in some form or another, but it wasn't until about 8 years ago that I really started collecting. I grew up during the quartz revolution (crisis?) where being able to quickly check the time by reading actual digits was nothing short of... revolutionary. Add to that the many features they began to cram into a watch that no one would've imagined decades prior, and you got one of the must-have pieces of tech that dominated the end of the last century, like ABC watches, game watches, and of course the memorable wrist calculators. I remember geeking out over those until I was finally gifted a (cheap) calculator watch and proudly wore it around the playground. They were the new wave of timekeeping so digitals have been my focus ever since. And yes, mostly Casios.
That said, I've added many analog quartz models to the collection - some vintage, some modern. More recently, my horology travels have taken me into the expensive-ish waters last year with this retrowave inspired chronograph from Farr + Swit (which I highly recommend). So I'll be posting pics here and there of models I've come across so far that many are familiar with, and some models that have been seemingly lost to time. Happy watch travels!
Quartz crisis gang. Grew up in the digital era so I've always had an affinity for Casios and the like. Now I consider myself more of a Casio watch historian, cataloging many of their pivotal timepiece...
