Bonjour !

I am an actual French person from France living on the East coast of Canada.

I have always loved watches. I have been buying Swatches since I was a teenager, was extremely proud of my Seiko Kinetic when I was in high school, and have received a lot of watches as birthday gifts when my relatives ran out of ideas. Enduring love turned into obsession when I decided to buy my first fancy mechanical: a Black Bay 58. Obsession led to watching too much YouTube and finally landing here.

I am a woman of many rabbit holes including fountain pens and stationery.

Welcome to WC! This sounds like a very familiar story, I think many of us came here in a similar fashion.

Fountain pens and stationary! 🍻. The best way to write.

Lovely Tudor also.

I apologise for my rusty French.

I’m from the West Coast myself.

Welcome! That BB58 looks great on that color strap

·

Bienvenu Doc! Quite a few French speaker around this lovely place. I am Belgian myself and my wife (@holihealthyrach) is Canadian from New Brunswick. Lovely BB 58 🥰🥰🥰

·

Welcome, actual French person! You will clearly have no trouble at all fitting in around here!

Looking forward to seeing more of your posts. I also have a history of being a Swatch buyer. It seems rare in my circle when Swatch collectors mingle with the more mainstream watch enthusiasts so your presence is most welcome to me. I tried the BB58 too. Though it was gorgeous it unfortunately felt large and top heavy on my small wrist. I was sooo disappointed!

Welcome to WC. It's comprised of a great group of watch nerds that continue to add many things of value most every day. Please enjoy.

·

BB58 on this beige/sand colored nato looks awesome. Congrats and welcome.

Hi, welcome.

Regarding Seiko kinetic, I once bought a vintage one and have grown to dislike it. Problem is: I have so many watches that the Seiko is only due wrist time once in a blue moon. By then the capacitor has typically run dry, and trying to get that going again is a serious workout.

Hi, welcome.

I was wearing mine on a regular basis for about four years between the ages of 15 and 19 (i.e. a very long time ago). The capacitors don't hold charge anymore and it lives in a drawer. But I adored that watch. I had bought it with my own money. I even wore it on the day of my high school History-Geography exam to try and trick the Universe to make the essay about Japan (didn't work).

I totally get that it is not a practical watch, but there is no other like it in my heart.
