Shall we talk about this?

New video from Andrew Morgan announces that he has left Watchfinder to focus on his own channel.

Disclaimer, I am a fan. Andrew's videos have become a staple of my week and I have a lot of feelings about this. A little sorrow at what is lost: the original talking hands with the music, the banter with Tom. Excitement at what is to come: the channel has a lot of potential if it receives Andrew's full attention.

Overall I am looking forward to what is coming next, but there is no denying that this feels like the end of an era.

Havng no idea who he is I have nothing to say, but those who actually care should talk away. It's a discusssion forum after all.

I'm a huge fan of @AndrewMorgan.

He IS the reason I subscribe to Watchfinder.

I predict he will be a better channel than Watchfinder in short order, if not already.

·

When researching watches, I always appreciated Watchfinder visuals and production quality. Their Mr. Jones video is very good.

Hope he finds success on his own.

·

Never heard of him or the show but thumbnails and titles like that are what have me thinking a huge percentage of YouTube and other platforms are narcissistic outlets. Is he supposed to look like he cares too much about the subject matter to be bothered with grooming and changing out of his yard work crew neck? 🙄

·

Andrew made me buy it! 😅

Completely agree his banter with Tom and the comedy in their discussions are what attracted me to that channel and to his own AMW channel.

To be fair, his videos were just his hands and voice for a long time. It was only after Mitch badgering that he started showing his face.

·

I’m surprised he quit. I assume being apart of watchfinder helped him with the press and get his hands on timepieces. Hopefully he still has connections and can be more of a independent journalist.

·

Big fan ... Him being a writer truly elevates the content, with a hint of British derision and humor. I think he made the right call, he makes a decent living now from his own channel, so he no longer needs WF&Co. 13 years is a hell of a good run!

·

Super nice guy, but I agree, he should have done so long ago. Watchfinder without him is just another used watch dealer. I am willing to bet they lived quite handsomely off of his YouTube success.

His comparisons & similes make me legit laugh out loud all the time.

I'm looking forward to him having a bit more freedom to pursue the highlighting of the under looked, the highly exceptional & the great stories of the watch world.

I'm sure he still has the connections that Watchfinder opened for him. He seems a very likeable chap, so can't see why he would lose those.

His access to some watches may initially be less, but I expect that to sort itself out quickly.

·

I can’t believe it… You have described the atmosphere of the video and how I feel throughout the video perfectly in one sentence.

I’m gonna check this video out but that’s just sad.

The marketing world has woken up to the fact that "influencers" are the future of sales... Whether you like that or not, the days of big dollars going towards TV ads and billboards are a thing of the past. People connect with individuals, not corporations.

Without Andrew, WF would be just another watch retailer. I personally know many who are hunting for their "Andrew" to put them on the map. Anyone can pay for some macro shots, but there's only one @AndrewMorgan. Dude has been making content longer than most of us have been aware of watches. I think he's thought this through 😉

You're such a sweetie

I'm in awe of the number of people whi clicked on this just say "I don't who this guy is " and post insults without finding out.

Anyways, Andrew was just using his content to close minds for but rather to open them. I can't think of a video where he offered snobbery in the place of budget and enjoyment. I think his new direction will do well.

I appreciate that, thank you. Over the years it's been interesting to see a selection of people who very confidently state the situation regarding the channel, the business etc, who are so wrong I don't even know how they can possibly begin to put it into words, but hey ho, that's how it goes! I've been utterly overwhelmed by the sheer wave of positivity in the last day and am filled with an unnerving sense of responsibility not to do a crap job of it 😅

I'm excited to see what you have in store. I just subbed to your new channel. That buttery voice can now butter it's own bread lol. Good luck sir!

Thank you very much! Hopefully after all this fanfare I can stick the landing 😅

Yeah I did man!

I’m excited to see what’s coming next. But there was something that I am not sure I understood 100%. When he said he will help the watch brands that he love to do what they do and do it better and turn his words into actions. Does that mean that he’ll be a consultant or will participate in the decision making of the new watches design and production? What did you get from this part?

That's exactly it. Over the years I've discovered watch brands that I think show great potential and I've taken what they've made and shared it through my lens. That feedback has helped them fill in the blanks on skillsets with their business that they're not so good at, predominantly communication. A lot of these guys are very technically focussed and so getting people to understand what they're doing can be hard for them. And that even boils down to the product itself. An incredible technical achievement can be mired simply by a so-so design. So I have the enormous privilege to be able to work with a few brands that I've supported and admired for years, but can now actually bring that input to them at the head of the chain, rather than reactively. It's proper dream come true territory for me. Terrifying, but exciting!

Why would people who've never heard of him waste time writing a comment that they've never heard of him? Sheesh! I only watched WF for Andrew and Tom so it doesn't matter to me what web address he's at. I'll be watching and hoping Tom joins him.

You can support Tom too on his own YouTube channel, Prestonocron!

That is so exciting Andrew!!!😍

I seriously can’t wait for witnessing all about that journey from the start and, if I may, contribute with my view on it in the comments!

I understand how can this be “terrifying but exciting”, but I already know how great of a job you will do!

This is it and you will make it happen ✊🏽💪🏽😎

Have some respect, also don't forget what forum you're in. Andrew Morgan was a honored guest on the Watch Crunch YouTube channel

So it’s not a forum then? Or do you mean harem?

It's just funny you express a strong opinion on something you openly admit up front to know nothing about. We both know if someone else did this, you would call out that person as well.

·

Watchfinder gave him a platform that put him where he is today.

What I took from that video was someone who does not realize that.

Uh oh, I'm sensing some negative vibes...

Don't read too deep in to it; just a cheap discussion. People want to talk about it so I obliged👍

I admitted that as a disclaimer to go on to opine on his exceedingly trite thumbnail - something I’m well familiar with - before projecting it onto the selfie types in general. Take the follower knee pads off. It’s embarrassing.

Tom has taken the helm💪🏼. Pretty well, not slick and refined as Andrew🤷🏼‍♂️

If you're thinking that narcissists abound on YouTube just from the thumbnails wait until you've met as many of them as I have.

There is a normie or two in the bunch but most are completely enamored with themselves and their Digital Kingdoms of Me.

I never get it twisted, they need viewers more than viewers need them.
