Watch adverts
The biggest watch companies must spend a substantial amount of their budget on advertising, many times with great success. However, there are times that it has just been way off the mark.
I did post these pictures on another thread but there was a bar fight over there and WC decided to burn the place down to hide the bodies. Since I spent so long cutting out these damn pictures I'm sure was hell gonna post 'em 😆 plus I think it's funny to see these and think that some CEO at IWC was like "Yep. That advert perfectly represents our values to the world".
The watch industry has obviously changed a fair deal over the years, but some of these ads aren't even that old:

...and my personal favourite, the watch brand trying to appeal to the niche market of watch loving lady killers....
Breitling also ran a series of very 'male focused' ads. I kept waiting for some kind of comedy moment at the end of it to make it make sense... but nope...

I bet at the time these adverts came out they actually worked, in the sense of getting people talking about the brand.

I just asked my wife, in the sexiest voice I could come up with "you wanna see my Seiko chronograph?'.
I got a crazy look, and a "no".
This one I think is for those men, who are looking for stewards, and not stewardesses. It says so right there in the fine print.
Holy Crap!! My social worker, activist, lesbian daughter would have a fit if she saw these. I showed her some videos from the 50s on Youtube entitled how woman should prepare for their man's arrival from home. lol. A totally different world, which is good in that respect. On a side note, it looks like The Mariner Brand was selling to Serial Killers.
It should make her happy, and proud. It shows that all the hard work, her, and all the activists before her have put into their respective movements, has paid off.
Also, while it's probably only 5% of the problem, this has been done to men as well.

Beautiful women in advertising will be a thing until the end of time. I think this is just a play on "lucky dog" and nothing else. I guess you could take the ad as promoting peeping on women, but I think that might be a stretch.
With that being said, this is an ad that I would have expected to get shot down, as it is borderline.

It does kind of walk the line. I would say it comes close to referencing 'upskirting' which you can get 2 years in prison for in the UK.

I mean I guess you could take it that way, but in my eyes, the ad is not promoting upskirting. The other ads here, are overtly saying women are complex. always late, and will sleep with you for your watch.
This one requires you to take a bit of a leap to say that's what they are glorifying.

Yeah the stewardess & complex IWC ads are clever & elicit a laugh at least. The Breitling is just a mess from top to bottom.
Man a lot of ads from those days really didn't age well.
Tbh though celebrity ads never really worked with me. I'm not the type to attach my identity to some other person just because they are famous.
