Work watches
A classic dress watch is my favorite accessory to wear but it might not be appropriate for a "day in the office". I am currently serving as an infantryman in the Marine Corps and wearing a watch is pretty much a necessity. There are some variations to the watches you normally see Marines wearing but pretty much every Marine you come by will own a G-Shock. Twords the end of boot camp you are instructed to purchase a watch and there's basically one option, the casio DW -9052. I chose to upgrade mine with a nato strap and it has most definitely paid off. This watch has never let me down. It has been in extreme cold extreme heat dry weather rainy weather you name it it has survived. For 60 ish bucks this is one hell of a watch and I think most of my buddies would agree. If you're searching for an inexpensive robust watch look no further.

When I joined the Canadian military we were told to have a watch when we arrived at basic training. I went with a Timex Expedition, which I had been wearing for a few years.
The one in the pic is new, since I lost the old one a few moves ago.
The original held up well when I was doing stuff like this...
These days I don't really go to the field anymore, so I wear whatever I want.
Your office isn't quite as comfortable as mine. It is good to see a G-Shock truly being used in the field where it does it best work.

I've owned a DW9052, and they are indeed rugged. G-Shocks are great watches to wear in many work environments. Where your watch helps you deflect the blows of hostiles, mine assists me in warding off spews of anger from a claimant during a total loss settlement when I tell him his 2002 Chevy Astro isn't worth as much as he thinks it is.
Huh, I didn't realize you guys had to buy your own G-Shocks. I just assumed the military handed them out...you know, with the mustaches.

Thank you for your service! Question (really curious) - is there military discount for g-shocks? My friend is in Canadian military and they get crazy discounts from many retailers (MEC, arcteryx, etc...) but the best of all is BMO mortgage rate discount.

There is, and for Marathon. Personally I choose Marathon....
The BMO thing is pretty awesome if you're new, but switching banks is hard to do when you're established.
Oakley also has some nice discounts, because you're not really "in" if you don't own a pair or 12 of Oakleys... 🤣
