What Bedside Clock Wakes You Up Every Morning?

Behold my Favorite of All Time Seiko QHE143ALH Ascending Alarm Bedside Clock with Sweep Second Hand! This I bought from my local clock shop a year ago and I have grown increasingly fond of it. The movement is whisper quiet as the second hand glides along its path. The arctic white display glows amber at night in alarm off mode and green when the alarm is activated. The beep alarm ascends in tone, tempo and volume; and the snooze gives me about seven minutes a pop to try and escape the burgeoning realities of the new day. Why I'm geeking so hard on a bedside clock eludes me...but I suppose clocks and watches can do that...as many of us can attest. Show Us Your Favorite Bedside Clock That Keeps You On Time and Free From Your Supervisor's Wrath.

LeCoultre travel clock. Sometimes it keeps time, sometimes it doesn't. Needs a service, I think the lubricants are dry.

Here is a Junghans that’s even more finicky.  It definitely needs service. But yeah. I love little clocks

I had one of those almost 20 years ago. Now he's 23.

Aww, they’re so sweet! There is no chance my pets are going to wake me up! 🤣

That is a cool Seiko clock! By the way, you wake up at 6am every morning? 👍👏

Yeah I've got one of those, it's big and white 🤣

I have the same in black, great little clock 💯

After seeing Max's bedside clock he purchased during lockdown I just had to get on myself. Smooth sweeping seconds hand actual lume that works, well for a couple of hours at least and the alarm is loud enough to wake the dead. But if all else fails there's always Harvey who will wake me to go outside for his early morning bathroom break 🤣

This seems to be a reoccurring theme between you and I, it's happened on a number of occasions now. I don't know if I'm being stalked by you or possibly my mother or father had an affair I know nothing about 🤣

You know what I never tried??! 😂 I’ll try it when I get home

but I have a feeling not really

No unfortunately they don't, I have the same one but in black.

Dang! I used to have the same one years ago. That's a great mechanical.

I'll just hand in my membership now, it's this

I use my $5 Westclox LCD alarm clocks - I have a whole bag of them I purchased at Walmart. They are indestructible and totally reliable - exactly what I need for waking up in the morning - plus 4 minute snooze button...been using them for about 25 years now...

Same, but they'll pry my WIS member card out of my cold destroyed fire safe watch box.

A whole bag? Do you commit a Groundhog Day special on it if it wakes you too blaringly?

When I was young I was a Cub Scout/Boy Scout - our motto was "always be prepared" - so when you see 'em and they are on sale - buy 'em.

That's a good policy my friend!

Very nice Seiko!

There nice but a bit expensive for a plastic clock, but I guess your paying for the name as always with Seiko 😉

·

I was looking at it. how I wish if I ever find one in garage sale or flea market.

·

I just use the alarm on my iPhone, although I almost always get up before the alarm rings.

My bulova bellman 2. it’s a modern, Chinese made, mechanical alarm clock. I love the sound of the ticking. and the alarm is super loud, which helps get me up in the morning. the reviews on Amazon where mixed, but I have yet to have any real issues with it, even after dropping it. i will say I almost had to re learn to set this type of timepiece. The issue is it can gain or lose a lot more time. as far ad I can tell it seems to be normal for mechanical clocks. do the two things I do is. 1, never worry about aligning the seconds hand with the minute hand (Just not much point imo). 2, is i always set it 20 minutes ahead of the actual time. that way I’m always up early rather than late.

Nice! It is a great practice to set it ahead of time. My Howard Miller mantle clock runs a little fast so I set it ahead a few minutes...and it then slows down to the correct time when it needs another wind.
