So I was chatting with Erik @ErikDenStore about racing watches after he posted a shot of his gorgeous Nezumi Voiture which we both share an affinity for...great Swedish microbrand. And then Hector @tonmed posted about modern chronographs (specifically microbrands) in a different post.
And I thought I would write a post about Racing Watches (not just chronographs, but any watch inspired by racing). Then I went through my database and pulled images into a separate folder and quickly realized I had far too many watches for one post.
So, what to do...I decided I would split them into three categories: Microbrands, Vintage and Modern (I think I'm still going to have too many but here goes anyway).
So this is Part 1 of who knows how many to begin the task of discussing watches that are racing themed, inspired by racing or have an automotive style.
I'm going to start with the "Z"s and see how far I can get...
Feel free to post your microbrand racing watches below...tempt me with more to add to the collection.

Holy horology Batman. What a collection of fine lookers. Just mentally ill and I mean that in a good way!
Wow, what a collection! I can see you have a type. I mean I knew you had a large collection period, but this blew my mind a bit hahaha.
Forzo is my personal fav if I had to pick.

Thanks! Thought you would enjoy the selection.
The lack of S.U.F. is shocking.
Just kidding, great selection.

Thanks Greg!

I am a known lover of Finnish watch brands.

Does that mean you have a Sarpaneva in your collection?

That's aspirational for me. I think that I account for 90% of the Sarpaneva mentions on this site.
Still really kicking myself for not picking up a Nezumi Corbeau.
Fanatstic micro collection! 🤏🏻👌🏻🤘🏻

Thanks appreciate the kind words.
Yeah - you have to jump on those Nezumi releases.
I missed this Yellowbird and I regret it...
So many absolute bangers in that lineup. Great work as always Mel.

Thanks CB!
Which one (or two) is/are your favorite(s)?
I am a sucker for a Group B, so that green one jumped out, the echo/neutra reminded me I eventually need to pick one of those, and that Zelos is a stunner. Waiting for a future Zelos drop to grab one with something other than an NH35.
Speedy Racing Panda 🐼
Oh you will enjoy if I get to posting about major brands...
Love your choice...the original racing watch...the Speedy!
Holy moly!!!!!!!
That's an awesome list with many kinds of styles, movements, brands in one whole pack, yet you're not even finished!
YES, more posts ☝️☝️☝️
I'm very satisfied looking at all kinds of different styles, and still, all of these are racing-inspired watches. I hope many will appreciate your sharing.
My wishlist will grow too much 🙄😂
Thanks a lot once again @ChronoGuy 🫶
This is only part 1? 🤯
Have you heard of reservoir watches? Closest thing to a speedometer, thought you might find them interesting.
I can’t really add much to a microbrand racing watch topic, and I technically have only one racing/racing watch, but it’s a doozy…
Can I just say, that whilst I think they are all nice, that LIV Gulf is something else. There is so much going on, but it’s just really well executed.
Wow, impressing as always Mel👌 Of all your stunning watches I believe the Forzo Drive King is my favourite. My racing watches are much more vanilla.

This. 💯 what he said. 🍻
DAMN! Now THIS is going to be cool 🔥🔥🔥
I’m also a fan of the ‘Racing’ watches. I think that’s probably why I love Heuer so much.
Will definitely be following this 👊🏼
I'll tell ya Mel @ChronoGuy I love looking at your collection. So much inspiration, education and down right cool as hell!! In fact, the Straton in my collection is pretty much your fault friend😉

Thanks for the kind words! I will see what I pull together for my next post.

Thanks Chris! I wish we could upload short videos in the posts without having to resort to YouTube. You would really enjoy the 1/10th of a second chronograph watching it speed around. It's definitely a fun and different watch.

Awesome! Thanks for the kind words.
Love what you've put together - that Islander on the bracelet looks totally 1970s and is gorgeous. Well done!
As to leading you into future purchases...what some have said about me...

At the end of the day, that’s it isn’t it - fun.
I like it. It wasn’t on my radar, and now it is… I could moan how that isn’t cool, but it really is. Someone got me onto Vero 2 years ago, and I haven’t regretted that, so no doubt I’ll be looking into LIV Gulf Racing chronographs for the foreseeable until I eventually pull the trigger.
Dan Henry, 1962. About all I have to offer to this thread…
I'm always blown away by the sheer number of watches you have, brother. How the f do you keep track of all of them! I'd love to see where you keep them all. You must have a walk in watch closet and drawers.

Thanks - I have a very detailed inventory in an Excel file and then a Word-based catalogue with every watch pictured with full details. Makes it easy to keep track of them.
My plan is to complete a book with a brief history of every brand in the collection and sections on the movements, etc. I think that will have to wait until I retire to have adequate time to do a decent job of it.
What's hard is figuring out how to group them for storage so I can find them when I want to wear them.
