So….. here’s the thing…
Turns out I judged the Vegas Rolex dealers too quickly. After lunch today I got a text from one of the boutiques that I visited when I arrived on Monday. The message was from the co-worker of the woman I spoke with initially. Turns out they were allocated an Explorer 1 that became up for grabs because a few other individuals on the list were unable to collect in person within 24 hours as is their current policy.
So, after my conference ended for the day I went and collected the 40mm Explorer in person. And I have to say, it’s pretty darn nice and a better fit (for me) than the Sub Date.
Felt nice that a boutique I visisted for the first time on Monday was able to deliver on a model I actually wanted and inquired about within 3 days. Super nice folks at that store.
Guess Lady Luck was on my side after all.

Thank you, and that’s awesome! I “heard” they were doing shipments earlier this month because they close down for two weeks over Christmas so I was hoping. But was still surprised to get the text.

I wouldn't be surprised if within the next year a lot of the rolex catalogue is just put back in the window as available.
Flipping the majority of them for profit is no longer a reality and AD'S trying to sift through thousands of potential names will become a time wasting exercise.
Wow, they snooze and lose. Seems to be a brutal policy for those that can’t get there within the 24hr window. But for every ‘loser’ there’s a winner I guess. Wear in good health!

Interesting your AD has a 24 hour policy. Mine has a 1 (one) Rolex per customer per year, just to try and keep everybody "happy". I'm still a few months away from my 12 month interval being completed so hopefully this time my name rises to the top for a Batgirl this spring. 😀

I myself just registered interest for a 40mm Explorer at a local AD after visiting a couple of times. During the initial conversation, the lady talked about waiting a year for it, but last time I was there she recommended I should inquire about availability on a weekly basis. I suspect I should be able to get one within the next few weeks or so. Things are changing.
I thought my nine week wait for a 36mm was short, but three days, wow! Enjoy, it's a superb watch.

Yes, stay in touch with your AD. Our Rolex AD is also our jeweler so she saw us recently (cha ching goes the cash register $$$$$) and we each bought other some presents. I figure that is a good way to stay in touch (and gotta buy presents so killing two birds with one stone so to speak).

I suggested this a couple months back and got laughed at. There won’t be ANY lists except for the actual rare stuff next year.
I agree! I think that many like to cry the usual "they are impossible to get" song simply to look cool and because they do not want to buy the watches!
