Salmon choices

Hello crunchers I’m tempted to join the Salmon bandwagon, been looking at various microbrands but can see anything that grabs me for the price. UnderD0G look great but are out of stock, so stumbled on the Tissot 1938 or the Farer Durham. Trying to ideally keep it under a grand

Any advice?

Not exactly salmon but I think this looks immense.

If you can find this Timex Marlin California dial used, it’s a steal for ~$200. This is my first foray into the salmon/nude dial and I’m in love!

Wow! I like and a Swiss movement too!

Bought this Seiko Quartz for its Peach/Salmon dial, completely on a whim. The ghost nato is mine of course.

I tried the watch on, loved it, realised I'd never wear it, and moved it on .. I've enough fun Seikos already.

Love the last one a lot!

You can buy this one under 100 Euros 🤣

Yeah. It’s a cracker. I’m in Ireland so import fees etc probably push it too pricey for me but it’s really a great looking watch. The story behind the brand is cool too.

On my wrist today! (Though salmon color seems out of stock at this moment.)

Being in the uk the duty will be a killer for me too

I also worried about sending it back if something went wrong with it. For around the same price (inc fees) you can get something like a Seiko Presage Sharp Edged safe in the knowledge it can get fixed if it’s not right.

Farer make lovely watches. I don’t think you’ll go wrong with it

Pierre paulin makes a nice sector dial and also a jump hour, $135 or less on Ali express. Seem like good watches, don’t let the Ali express part scare you away

I’d stick to one of the two options you’ve already identified, although Baltic MR01 also comes to mind (imo not as desireable of a movement although the aesthetics are amazing). Both of the above are great high-quality options. What do you prefer, a cushion case shape with art-deco charm and a Swiss movement? Or a true chronometer from a long-standing Swiss brand? Can you handle the bold “chronometre” text? Those are the questions I’d be asking myself…and I genuinely don’t know which I’d pick🤣 can’t go wrong.

Not under a 1K but IMHO well worth the additional cost

Montblanc Heritage 119944 (can be found ~1000 used and usually under 1400 on grey market)

Image

They also come in a GMT variant which I really like.

Interestingly, my phone autocorrects Montblanc to “not bland” 😂

If you want just to play around, there’s also a tusyoa in a sort of salmon/ copper color. Also benefiting by not having the cyclops. But Farer ( if I could afford it) would be my choice

I have the jumping hours.

Very happy with it.

Its really interesting to see the huge variation in color for dials that could all be described as "salmon". The only salmon dial I have in my collection is on an old vintage Wakmann chrono, but unfortunately it is a "re-dial" and not original.

DuFrane are awesome watches! Highly recommended.

Others here have linked the Baltic MR01 Salmon. That would be my choice.

I’ve been eying that Farer too. It’s been in my cart for two weeks now. Pull the trigger and I will too!
