I need your opinion!

I have this beauty (BB41) for about two years now. I still like it but it is not the perfect fitt; a little too much hight and the size is on the edge. I bought it used for a good price (2750€ with box &paper). Now my AD has a BB58 on leather for 3239€ - normal retail price for me. He only want to give my 1.750€ for my watch😡😤. I tried to sell it myself for a long time…nothing happened. Should I go for it or live with it?! It’s nearly the same freaking watch!:(

Is it worth the extra €1489 to you to have a watch that is closer to your ideal size?  If yes, grab it.  If no, pass.

·

If you can afford it and not worry about the money ,yes, but if it's a stretch,no ,I've sold items in the past and never really felt the upgrade worth it

·

I would keep it. It looks fantastic!

·

You can try swapping out the bracelet for a strap or NATO. That may give it a whole new feel.

·

Thank you guys for the helpful comment!!! Great community! I know I would not enjoy the new BB58 with this bad deal and keep my money! I still love this watch, event though it’s not perfect.

I will try some strap:)

·

I’d say trade it in. You’ll take a hit, but it does help with the AD.

If you can, get it on the bracelet.

·

I traded mine for an Oris, at least I got for 2200 for mine for the trade…never looked back but I am eyeing a BB58 either the bronze or the silver one

But the it’s the same quality watch as the BB58 but with different proportions. The hight bothers me but loosing that much money for the same (but smaller) piece would bother me more. Maybe in the future I‘ll get a better deal done.

Yeah I had the same issues with Bb heritage, but when I tried on the Bb58 it’s felt a totally different watch… but I get your hesitation, hence why I got a different watch

I know that for me, once I start thinking about getting rid of a watch it's gone (emotionally).

I would keep looking for better deals, both selling your 41 and looking for a 58.  I feel like you could probably get closer than a 1500e delta, maybe with a used 58?

For me the 41 is too tall.

Donate it to charity and take the tax write off.  If you're not a scuba diver, get something that isn't a dive watch.

Took me a while to sell a longines in smaller size as well. Sometimes it just means u havent met the right buyer yet. Keep on trying to sell yourself though. I could have traded my longines to my desired seiko plus double the money more. When i sold the watch myself and got lucky w the seiko price, it was an equal trade. Be patient the bb58 price will always be there once u sell ur bb41 :)

3239-1750= 1489€.

Was it worth basically renting a watch for two years for that money or (744.50€ per year)? That’s what you have to weigh up?

Also I assume when you you bought the BB41 it was ‘perfect’ - it’s only when the BB58 came along, did you think it was not. Do you think there are any things about the BB58 that’ll make you feel the same when the next BBxx release drops? Just to avoid to taking the same ‘mis-steps’

Good Point! When I bought the BB41 I did it online and still was a newby to the watch collecting journey and it was lock down time. I would never buy a unseen watch again. I was or am lucky that it is an amazing watch for the money. Renting a watch?! people do that??? No, I am looking for a keeper:) My journey is more the task of finding the perfect fitting watch:) I get to thinking it’s a myth…but recently I tried a Grand Seiko which comes close but no easy link extensio:( I will take a good look at the new Ranger…will see if it’s works for me:)

Looks fine IMO 😊 you can always go for something completely different?

Price only comes into play when you sell a watch. If you’re thinking of trading it in for the BB58 then you can actually put numerical value on the time you had the BB41 for. It was effectively ‘rent’ money until you got the next one. I think there have been companies which allowed you to rent a watch but I don’t think any of them have been a success.

All part of your personal journey through watches. Have fun trying on your new watch and let us all know what you discover!

I think that the size of a watch or to be more precise the way a watch wears is quite important. The most beautiful watch on earth doesn't give you anything if you're consistently annoyed when you wearing it.

On the other side it just seems to be a tiny bit. I know that only a small difference can make a huge difference in watches. But is that the case for you personally?

I personally prefer the combination of black and blue over the blue/blue way more. At least on photos. So I would ask myself whether that smaller size is more important than the look or if it's the other way around. Do also not forget that you'll "lose" the bracelet. I think the bracelet is about 700€ or sth like that. So you would spend 1400 on the watch and extra 700 on the bracelet.

Because of the design I would say you should keep it. But if you just don't feel comfortable with the 41mm version and way better with the 38mm version go for it. At the end of the day you need to wear it so you must feel comfortable with the choice. When you already tried to sell it that might be a indication that you annoyed so much that the 38mm would be the better choice for you.

But 1700€ seems to be a bad deal. Do you ask other dealers what they would pay for your watch? Sometimes you can get a reasonable deal at your local dealer. I would ask other dealers first before accepting that offer.

Hope my thoughts on all of that might help you a little bit 🙏

You’re being too picky imho. 😎

…so diver watches are just for divers?! 🤦‍♂️🤣 We are talking watches not charit work. A G-Shock is all the watch you will ever need, if you think that way. But I am talking about Tudor BlackBay watches, I can really recoment them; Top Quality, durable, amazing loom and you can, if you want go diving with them.

Thank you so much for your thoughts! Very nice analysed the situation. I love the black and blue and I would loose a lot of good memories which bonded me with this BB41. The only flaw which is has for me is the high…the fitt on the bracelet is fine, the weight is ok. So it’s not enough flaws to let it go:)

It's obviously just my opinion.  I don't understand why dive watches are so popular and I don't understand why Tudor is popular. Dive watches are unpolished tools with bulky utilitarian hands and indices which are necessary for telling time in a low light environment.  They work great at what they are built for but I see no beauty in this tool.  Tudor has some questionable quality control.  Search the amount of upset customers who have made You Tube videos calling them out.

·

If you really love it but the thickness is the issue, you can sell it and get the first generation with the ETA movement (Tudor 79220B Black Bay blue)...it is 2mm less thick, has the rose logo and the smiley face.

I understand your opinion better now. And I agree partially that Dive watches are getting too much attention and for many a field watch would be a even better fitt. I am no more a newby to watch collecting and know what works for me. This Tudo BB has been nothing but a joy for me. I cannot say anything bad about quality issues on Tudor watches, quite the opposit, it works so good. Every watch brand has sometimes quality issues, no matter the price. My Omega came directly from a Omega Service and had to go right back to them. Now do I say Omega has quality issues?! No, it happens with every brand. These are mechanical watches…it can always happen. If you look at details like ceramics balls on the clas from Tudor you will see that you get a lot for your money. I’ll keep the BB by the way:)
