Seeking advice

So I'm thinking of trading in both my JLC Reverso Tribute Small Seconds and my JLC Master Ultra Thin Moonphase in steel with a silver dial (pictured above) for a JLC Master Ultra Thin Moonphase in rose gold.

My thinking:

1) I find the Reverso wears a bit small.

2) I just adore the MUT Moonphase. The size and case are simply perfect for me.

3) I have been wanting a gold piece. Also, the gold moonphase is one year newer and has the newer movement with the nicer rotor and longer power reserve.

4) I really like keeping my collection very small and focused.

Is this crazy? Has anyone else traded from steel to PM and have any thoughts on this??

Cheers,

J

For a gold JLC ? If I had other similar steel watches and no other solid gold watches in collection I’d go for it…just for diversification

·

I say go for it.

The Reverso looks PERFECT size for your wrist, in my opinion! Modern, larger reversos and Santos’ can have the tendency to look like TV screens on the wrist; this looks perfect. What are dimensions of this one?

·

A gold moonphase? Make the trade.

·

I want to be Dr. No but your reasons are all good. Well, the Reverso's problem is not size but whatever. Gold, moon phase , and thinness are great, as is fewer watches.

·

To those that say the Reverso looks perfect, I agree that it does on a wrist shot. However, I'm tall with large hands therefore it looks quite small in a full length mirror.

·

Sounds like a plan. Interested to know your decision. Good luck.

·

Go for it! I would!

·

I'd keep the Tribute and swap MUTs, obviously paying a few bucks toward the rose gold. Idk what else you own but in a small collection, a Reverso is a keeper. It looks perfectly fine too. I have a good size rotation and my Duo isn't ever leaving it.

First world problems! All three watches are amazing. Roll a dice!

·

Sounds like a good plan!

·

I have a rose gold MUT (not the moon phase though). It's amazing, you won't regret it!

·

I think your reverso is perfect size for you.

·

A head decision 🤷🏼‍♂️all gorgeous, I don’t know about the financial value of those 2 against the white gold MUT. At least your can go wrong here 🤓

·

That would be a great trade for you, I think. All are great watches but that rose gold seems to tick all your boxes that the other two fall short. There’s a finite amount of wrist time, and so the one that is the “perfect” watch should enjoy most of that time. That rose gold ultra thin is an amazing watch.

·

Reverso size looks great, I’d move the steel moon you have and save/pay the diff of the gold moon. No reason to lose two watches for the same watch in a gold case.

·

Gold is too heavy to wear and very soft. It will end up a watchbox queen for fear of damage.

·

I would keep that Reverso if possible. That’s so unique and great, but the gold JLC MUT moon is just dope. So do what you need to do. I just don’t want you to regret moving the Reverso.

·

You will regret letting go the Reverso…

I know I did.

This is how I feel. I own both watches, and wouldn’t give up the two. I’d swap out the moon phase and pay the difference. But that’s my opinion. @AutomaticJK

That's a good opinion. Almost bought a MUT but I decided against something dressy. Love them though

·

do what you feel man! If your heart tells you that go for it

·

Sounds like you won’t miss the reverso too much and love th MUT - I’d say it’s worth the upgrade, the MUT will absolutely sing in gold.

·

Go for it! I think your reasoning is fine. As long as you’re happy with the trade-in values and overall expense in the end seems reasonable to make the switch.😉

·

It sounds like you've thought this through. Sounds logical.

At the first reading I was thinking why the hell sell that beauty the MUT! 🤤damn I really love the watch but when I saw for another MUT but in rose gold ! I’d say yes make that special watch even more special 🫡

I hear you, but the Reverso feels like its moving to the 'been there done that' category of my journey (along with the Tank and Speedy). I'm glad I owned them but now I want to focus on more off the beaten path pieces that are truly personal choices.

·

I absolutely love that moon phase but I say go for it. I’m sure it won’t disappoint.

Sounds like a plan. Interested to know your decision. Good luck.

Update: Unfortunately the delta on the trade worked out to a lot more than I expected, so I've scrapped the idea.
