Anyone think the Omega Speed Master triple date is slept on?

I just think it's such a great model. It's really impressive how they're able to fit an automatic chronograph, full calendar day/date/month and 24hr register in such a "small" package. So many chronographs alone these days are quite thick or bulky imo.

Now, this is still 14mm in height, but the design of the case and bezel creates an optical illusion of something much slimmer. And it is only 39mm for overall case diameter.

This watch has become a staple for me now in terms of making it my black tie dress watch model as well as it effortlessly slips under cuffs. The classic speedy monochromatic look but in a smaller compact form factor.

Only flaw? Rather paltry water resist at only 50m, but I can live with it for it's size. Anyone else a fan of this speedmaster alternative?

I’m inclined to agree from your images.

Is that a Valjoux moment or lemania?

Remake of MK 4.5?

Either way, my favourite omega. I love a central minutes chronograph 🔥

From Hodinkee:

OMEGA caliber 1151, an automatic mechanism based upon the ETA 7751, itself based upon the legendary 7750.

Isn’t that the date pointer?

Isn’t that the date pointer?

Yes correct, my question was more to do with the central minutes hand, I was unaware that omega had modified a valjoux that had that, like Sinn’s SZ01 minus the triple date. ✌🏻

They’ve got fantastic looking Panda, reverse panda, white, and Blue versions out there too. All look fantastic.

Keep sleeping…don’t need the price of this one to sky rocket into unibtanium levels, lol. My triple date is one of the most worn watches in my collection.

Thanks for the introduction to a watch that was right under my radar. And I follow Omega, or thought I did!

·

What’s the Omega reference on this watch?

·

Great share! Tbh, I never knew of this model🤣

·

I reckon some of them are.

The Mk40's get a premium but are still relatively slept on I reckon.

The amount of different Speed Masters is just confusing to me. 🤯

Dial is too busy for me

·

I just sold my 3523.80 (blue dial, pointer date, triple calendar). That version had a modified 7751 which is a true chrono movement not a module. You can tell the difference by looking at the pushers. If they are inline we it’s the crown it’s a Chrono movement if they are higher off the wrist it’s a chrono module.

It was a beautiful watch and packed a ton of features into a small package but as my eyes aged I found it impossible to read.

I think what you refer to as a running chronograph hand is still a date pointer. Sinn has the same looking hand for chronograph but for some reason Omega used this shape for date. I like Sinn’s execution better here.

Thanks for information, much appreciated. Damasko did well too.

the more I see this the more I like the busy dial 🖤

For sure....I think my closeup shots make it look more cluttered. In real everyday use, at a quick glance the watch is extremely legible and easy to know what you're looking at. The sub dials almost take a step back unless you're trying to read them

I love mine! Especially with the applied indices and Omega logo. This variant is rated at 100m water resistance.
