You’re going to work in the watch industry!

Which company would you like to work for/with and why?

I think Oris would be high on my list. Family feel. Great watches! What’s not to like!

A. Lange & Söhne - it's a premier brand with operations small enough to fully learn and understand - and have potential roles. Just seems ideal in terms of work/life balance and fulfilling work.

·

I would like to work for Patek Philippe, simply because they are the most prestigious watch manufacturer in the world.

·

Grand Seiko for me. After reading Zach Weiss's article at Worn & Wound, it sounds like a fantastic place to work.

Search for some of the videos of the GS studio workshops on YouTube. Really something . . . Some of the interviews with the watchmakers (many from the town and trained from a young age) really put into perspective how detail oriented and perfectionist this company is.

·

Other.

Weiss and/or Sangin Instruments.

·

Panerai - so I could move to Italy, obviously

·

Swatch

·

Seiko or Omega. As much as I appreciate craftsmanship, I'm an industrial/process engineer and value efficiency and automation. Some watch companies leverage technology more while others stick to roots of hand made. Not that either is right/better, I think automation is just way more fun to work with.

Tudor would be on the list too for me exactly for those reasons!

·

Longines, because I admire their watches and the diverse range they offer. Their timepieces are truly remarkable.

·

Vacheron Constantin, or Omega..

·

I would work for Breitling. Overall I am not a huge fan of their catalog other than the Aerospace, SuperOcean, Navitimer, and the Chronomat 😬, but it would be cool to go to all the cool events they sponsor.

·

I'd like to work for VC, there's something special about what they do.

A brand like Bremont would be exciting as well - not that I'm a huge fan of their watches, it's more about their structure, size and 'pluck'. Similarly Nomos, Oris ect. are doing interesting things.

If I was to work for one of the mainstream Swiss brands it'd be Zenith followed by Longines or Tudor.

·

Swatch for me......low bar

·

I have to be honest—I'd jump at the chance to work at Rolex. My curiosity about the brand is really about understanding the subtle details they keep under wraps, owing to their private status. Beyond that, it would be amazing to contribute to such an iconic organization. Despite some negative sentiments within the community, I'm an admirer of the brand and would relish the opportunity to help enhance its legacy for the future.

·

Besides the craftsmanship and the beauty of working on mechanical engines. I would consider the location. Working and living close to the workshop. Either Grand Seiko in Japan or Nomos in Glashutte.

·

It all depends on how good the staff discount is. 80% off and no wait times for a Patek 5326G? Here's my CV...

Realistically, Bremont or Christopher Ward.

·

H. Moser & Cie or MB&F. I have so much respect for what they do and the ideology behind it. Also... have you looked at them?!! 😛

·

Rolex. Once a year I decide to increase/decrease one from the catalogue by 2mm, collect my cheque and go home for 364 days!

·
Hodonkee

I nearly put them too James.

What you said + being operated by the Stern Family. It's always better to work in that environment than for a behemoth.

·

Fortis because they do cool stuff with rockets, send watches to space for fun/marketting.

Yema because they speak French.

Breitling if it’s in my job description to fly a P-51 Mustang to shoot commercials. ✈️

A. Lange & Sohne or Glashutte Original or Rado. Or whichever company had the most parties.

·

Off topic: Funny how confirmation biased this pie chart is by highlighting Swiss and European brands, while relegating Seiko, Grand Seiko, Citizen, Orient, Timex, and other well-known and heritage brands as "Others".

Agreed on Fortis

·

If field testing is involved I'd signup with Casio for their Protrek line!

·

Christopher Ward, these guys are going places.

·

I agree with Oris! I saw one of Teddy Bulbasoar’s factory tour videos, and the team at Oris seemed great to work with, and had a great culture

·

GS because I love Japan... GS strives for perfection and manage to deliver great value to the market... Nature inspired philosophy sounds interesting, and I love their designs, their movements, and Japanese food is the best period haha

·

I would like to work in the design department of Steinhart.

·

Raketa or Vostok, because i love the creativity they have.
