37mm, white/silver, GADA under 2k

In my madness I have soon "completed" my "preliminary" watch collection of 12 watches (find it personally already ingenious to use the words "complete" and "preliminary" in one sentence... that describes the watch madness perfectly! Its complete... for now... like 1-2 weeks... its allready 14 watches...). What I'm missing in daily use is a (smaller) GADA that is also at least 100m water resistant, no larger than 37mm and comes with a steel bracelet. My Baby Alpinist and the Sinn 556 are too "heavy" and not very universally suitable. The Longines VHP was too big and with only 50m not water resistant enough. My Nomos Club Campus is again a bit too elegant... My search has focused on these two models. For more suggestions in the comments I would be very happy. What do you guys think?

My concern here is that it looks "too interesting" and it will be just another special watch in the rotation and not a GADA. I also thought of the Grand Seiko SBGX263, but since we do not have GS here in Switzerland (for now) it would be a pain to service (Seiko is already quite expensive since you have to send it to Germany). But well... quartz does not need much service...

The Aquastar has personality. I think the Aquastar might seem to be a bit much for of everyday thing but that’s exactly it’s charm to me. The Seiko is nice but a bit boring. I guess boring is good sometimes and I wouldn’t fault either choice, but right now I like the Aquastar. They’re new skin diver is super cool too.

·

I can suggest you the Grand Seiko SBGX263.

I have the black version and I love it (SBGX261)

the king seiko is pretty nice. too bad it's not a 4 Hz movement.

i just came across the Citizen NB1050-59a JDM. it's supposed to be a silver dial and has a little bit of lume.

Really my only concern is the service, because I have to travel to germany or italy since there is no GS in switzerland (or they will just send the watch there...). From a pricepoint perspective i can get the aquastar for 1'650CHF, the GS for 1'500, the KS for 1'300. Maybe the GS ist the golden (or champagne) middle 😅

Its (on the paper) too big for what I am looking for. Would have been a great alternative to the Baby Snowflake or the VHP, but i know its not for me (anymore).

Has anyone the CW c63 Sealander in 36mm?

·

I actually own a Batavi and I often find myself lustering after Farer, Baltic, Brew and anOrdain. So no problem there 😂 i like the bb58 and 54, the old prince and the bb gmt in white, but the 36mm are not for me... My wife likes them a lot 😂

·

I tried on @HotWatchChick69 's king Seiko and it fit like a dream on my 6 1/2 inch wrist. The more I wore it the more it grew on me. It's really a great watch with excellent proportions.

·

It depends on how much you want to spend. The Lorier Falcon is a beautiful GADA

Like it, but is it really available only with a black dial? I have the Sinn 556 in black... And I dont do well with hesalite 😅

·

Mmm... I dont like it in pictures... But I will give it a shot with my german AD when I go to Freiburg (Sinn, Nomos, Mühle, Union and Junghans there) 👌

I have one C63 Sealander GMT and I love it. IMO the regular C63 is a bit too "plain".

If you are ok with 2mm more, they released this beauty

But I remember now... I am saving a spot for the c65 BRONZE 🤤

Bronze is an acquired taste that I don't have it. But good look with that!

Good options, I believe that is more related to life style, the Grand Seiko is more "smart casual" and the CW is more "adventurous". Good hunt!

If you were considering a Grand Seiko SBGX263 and were concerned about the service, you have to be aware it's a quartz and only needs a service 50 years once according to GS. You just have to change the battery every 3-4 years and that can be done at a good local watch shop.

The King Seiko is a very nice watch, the finish on the model is excellent and I would say it can rival entry-level GS with its finishing. The bracelet with the alternating polishing and multiple facets on the chamfered edges is just beautifully done. I personally don't mind the movement but if you find the watch for around $1400, it's a very good value for the level of quality and finish you are getting. Plus the proportions of the watch are just on point. Seiko did release a 38mm high beat variant in white and black dial recently so that option is also there.

I have never seen either of these watches in person so I voted for the King Seiko as that would be my preference since it's less busy and I prefer that style for an everyday watch. Based on your criteria a lot of watches can be considered!

Lorier Astra: https://www.lorierwatches.com/products/astra

Traska Commuter: https://www.traskawatch.com/products/commuter-sterling-silver

MAEN Brooklyn 36mm: https://www.maenwatches.com/products/brooklyn-36-atc-02 (50mm WR though)

THE CITIZEN Eco-Drive AQ4020-54Y

Seamaster 300M Mid Size: https://www.chrono24.ca/omega/seamaster--id28970948.htm

I also wanted a white/silver dial GADA watch and opted for the Lorier Hyperion Skyward edition however it is 39mm.

Same here. That Seiko dial is just so generically boring and will not even warrant a second look if I saw it on someone's wrist.

Hyperion Skyward is really nice! I also like the Astra. But I dont have experience with hesalite glas... I prefer sapphire

I definitely get that, especially for a watch you expect to wear all the time. On the bright side seems like there are a lot of options out there! I thought of this after my post:

BB54 all day

I have the Aquastar 2 on a BoR bracelet, but swapped to a tropic strap. Absolute killer as a daily.

I have a Nomos Club, and an Alpinist is not much more substantial than that. Perhaps you are over-thinking this. Buy a King Seiko and enjoy it, for it is a fine watch. Watch those categories or they might doing terrible things to your mind (mental illness is no joke).

Over-thinking for sure 😂 after I resized my collection from +30 watches to 10 watches I started looking if it works for me. after 2-3 months I have to say that besides some grail status watches I just miss this kind of watch. Nomos and Sinn just do the job (especially the Nomos) but I miss the look/feel of my GADAs I had before (but where too big and heavy and not WR). Nomos is one of the most worn, but its not a style I always want.

Surprisingly my Speedy has become a GADA, but well... I dont want to swim in the swiss rivers with it 😀 my Baby Alpinist would be perfect but in gold/green its not a watch for every case (and a bit heavy). At the same time I don't want to change it because it's a look I like and use a lot (especially in summer) 😎.

No rush to buy a watch there, just playing some (mind) games while looking for a good deal 😜

Oh well... this just came out 🤯 35mm Powermatic 80 with waffle dial...

by the way, my wife gave me the GO for the SBGX263 yesterday... this will be a tough decision.

Actually you have to take advantage of such wife weakness moments... 😂

I couldn't agree more with you. I wear my Deepstar II every day on all kinds of different straps. I have a BOR, a tropic and different NATOs. The watch looks so good on each of them and I enjoy wearing the watch so much!

Today on a nice MN-Strap👌
