What is your watch resolution for this year?

My New Year watch resolution is to get my family more involved into collecting watches. For the record I've already started and I've made some headway but I need to keep it going. I gave a few watches away to my kids and a few more as Christmas presents last year.

The first present was my Tissot SeaStar Chrono which I gave to my son for Christmas. He was stoked.

I also got my wife who is a Snoopyholic. Two new Snoopy watches. I'm trying to get her to take her Apple Watch off her wrist. So far Snoopy is helping out. I haven't seen the Apple Watch in a couple of weeks.

About 8 months ago I bought 3 Tissot PRXs with different colored dials. I kept one and I gave one to two of my sons. This Christmas was the first time the 3 watches have been in the same room. I had the biggest smile ever.

Now, I have a new granddaughter. She's made me a proud grandfather. So of course I had the put a watch on her wrist. She's going to be watch wearer, I just know it.

She makes 3 generations of watch enthusiasts in my family. A year or so ago I was the only one.

So this is my resolution to keep my family invested in watches. It might be a bit off track but it makes me smile. What is your watch resolution this year?

Awww lovely pictures and gifts you gave your family! Thanks for sharing! I have gifted some watches so far. I am gifting my friend his second automatic watch. I still have not fully converted my wife into being a watch collector which is okay leaves more room in the watch box for me. My goal for 2024 is to slow way down with buying. I got one and two more on the way for 2024. I am hoping that will be it! 😅

No bezels, no black dials. Let's see 🤞

·

I now likely have more watch boxes than many have watches, so like @lla2891 I will be slowing down. Only a few select independent brands this year, while possibly unloading some watches on trade.

Thank you. Your comments are appreciated.

You can't slow down on your buying. The site would shut down without your NWA posts. 😂Ok seriously, I've been trying to do the same thing. I think waiting a while in between purchases lets you appreciate and enjoy your watches more. Good luck with your resolution. I'm rooting for you.

Sounds easy enough, good luck.

It sounds like you have a solid idea of where you want to go. Good luck with the unloading CB. From what I know about you I feel you'll make great choices.

Let’s hope so. Never sold a watch, but I probably have 4 or so I can trade towards something.

I'm looking at trading one in to up grade right now. The dial's done if I decided to pull the trigger.

I want to fight the temptation of buying a lot of watches and instead work hard and save money for couple if grails

Baby steps maybe, for now i’ll stop buying a new watch every month

·

Great resolution for the New Year!

So cool to see the whole family gathering together around watches.

Hope you have a fantastic year Craig!

Buy less. Sell more.

Thank you! I finally ordered my Tudor BB58 yesterday. I have a GS on order. I better be done for the year or I will be real mad at myself. 😆

My primary resolution is to appreciate the watches I currently own by not switching them up as often during the work week. That will result in fewer WRUW posts I suppose.

You are a lucky fella Craig, there is nothing more important than family, our younger daughter and her husband presented us with an adorable first granddaughter last October, I have been locating abandoned watches that her mom and aunt left behind when they moved out, lol. Suddenly those random ignored childhood watches have gained importance. I am older than you so my two young adult daughters and even my wife are watch people while pretending they are not! My son in law remains a project that may not be worth my time. He was celebrating a new contract with my daughter before their wedding and purchased a quartz Shinola watch for the same money as a good Longines mechanical. When the couple decided to marry his mom gifted each a cash present to buy something personal, a keepsake, guy goes out buys a mechanical Shinola. I recall he criticized my family for being a little snobbish about watches when we first met. He changed his mind pretty fast when I gave him my Breitling Black Steel Avenger Blackbird watch for his last birthday! Have a great day, have a great year. I know that you will!

·

Long answer, no resolutions since neither my wife or I ever keep them. lol!

Sell a few more, buy one more, hopefully call it quits and finally invest in a proper camera 😉

Best of luck with quitting and hope you get camera you want.

Only to start taking pictures of watches and realise you want more watches 😜

Thanks bud; want to trim the herd and just focus on enjoying a smaller collection. 🍻

Well done m8, to drag them into the hobby / instill a deeper appreciation of the finer things in life! Both my wife and daughter have started to wear proper watches since the bug bit me; it’s not like they share my enthusiasm, but at least they picked up on the ‘it’s nice to wear a nice watch’ vibe :)

For me personally: I now have twelve watches, and in 2024 that number should not get above fourteen. One nice piece (as i think I mentioned before, thinking about a JLC from the Master Control series) and maybe a fun one (another MrJ perhaps?)

·

I Will stop buying watches with the exception of one or two grail level watches. Like my lose weight resolution, may be hard to follow.

·

I want to diversify my digitals, add a steel case vintage style Casio, and maybe pick up a small solar chrono - all while sticking to a limit of 20 or fewer watches. I'm at the point where I know what I like and I want less, but better.

Oh, and experiment with some different G Shock strap options.

Both are good goals. You could reward yourself by meeting a weight goal with a watch. It would be a win win and help make you accountable. I have faith in you. Best of luck.

You have a lot of work to do. I hope it all works out and you stay on track.
