Wasn’t planning on getting something like this but it was pretty inexpensive….
It has the updated Miyota 8xxx with hacking seconds.

Congrats! I look at the color combo and I think beach. Really like the day date combo.
Mine showed up yesterday, had some issues with the screw pins so Mark has a bracelet on the way🍻

I didn't need to remove any links on mine, so I can't say if it's a common issue. Hopefully not!

It's nice overall, seems like a very good deal for the $$.
Lume is decent not spectacular, but uses two colors.
Bezel action is good - no play at all, maybe a touch hard to turn (the grip is not great) but it might break in a bit.
The Miyota 8xxx is not the most refined movement as far as hand-winding and time setting goes. It's perfectly usable though
The crystal has distinct distortion from the slight dome, people who hate that should avoid it probably.
It's not going to win any awards for case/bracelet finishing - nothing particularly obnoxious though.
If you like the aesthetics, it's an easy recommend I think, as long as you aren't expecting a 600$ watch for half that price.

My one gripe is that the Islander logo is just… plain and not great. Was going to say stupid, but I’ll refrain out of respect for Mark. Make a more interesting logo and drop “Islander” from the dial and it would really kick it up a notch, IMO. And a 9000 series Miyota would be nice, too.

It was a thing at one point back in the day I think, I've seen it on vintage watches before (I want to say Rado in particular but I don't know if they invented it or not), but it's not as common as it ought to be, it's better looking than a day-date at 3 I think....

I like the design a lot, just wish the navy had a black bezel (or the black had a navy bezel. Either way).

I don't disagree - the logo isn't the best, but I think it's fine. The plain block capital ISLANDER underneath is what I'd do away with myself, that's not great at all.

This is a great release by Mark and Islander watch crew. I like the day-date at 6 o'clock position and the color matching...the hands used... it is a sub 40mm dive watch ..and it's a great value at the price. I particularly like the green one and would have considered it except that I just recently picked a similarly green dialed Phoibos. I hope they stick with this model and come out with even more color combos.
