Spaghetti Scameti

Would anyone on here be comfortable giving me the rundown? It's a joke, right? But people are buying into it anyway, because they know it's a joke? Seems like a waste of money and kinda hypocritical to support. Maybe I just don't get it. Discussion is definitely welcome. Thanks, WC!

Yes it's a joke, but it supports Ben's Watch Club. Ben has done many videos exposing the shady, cash grabbing, scam-like operations of some of the fashion watch brands that hype their watches on social media as "affordable luxury" by "cutting out the middleman", etc. So, this is his comedic take on the situation.

How much are the watches/merch?

·

By all accounts Ben is a stand up guy and poking fun at the industry as a whole. Honestly don't need another joke watch at this point, but if I did I would wholeheartedly get one lol.....

See @SpecKTator I did actually refrain from posting the "Angel Killer"...😂😉🤐

This is very easy to google.

https://scameti.store/en-us

You'd be a fool not to take the 75% off coupon on the page.

·

So like the ironic Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster... But didn't that accidentally become a real religion? Uh oh. 🙄

Santa’s got you on a list…undecided on which one yet

Ben is a ledg!

·

WHAT?!? Spaghetti Scameti isn't a luxury brand I can get for 99.99% less than a Rolex but still use to flex in front of "the poors?" Social media lied to me?!? I am shocked, SHOCKED, I say! 🤣🤣🤣

·

This is wild. I feel like there are way cheaper ways to support this guy's channel. Or you could just donate the cost of the watch directly to the channel/Patreon or whatever. What a strange hobby we're in. You guys sound brainwashed 😏

·

Its just for fun. Keeping it light is always great.

Who hurt you?

Nobody hurt me, haha. I just think that it sounds a little counterproductive. We're always told to stay away from people in the watch community who transition to dealers or makers. And I agree with that. But people are voluntarily buying watches that are sold to be junk. Just sounds weird to me.

·

It’s just channel merch, like buying a t-shirt, and not ridiculously expensive on 75% off clearance.

It does sound a bit weird but…..

At the mo with discount about £20.00 that’s probably around 5 posh coffees and it’ll be around longer, Ben has to be one of the most down to earth reviewers and if spending this small amount of cash keeps his quality channel going then it’s worth it. Lastly you’ve gotta have a bit o fun in life ain’t ya…….

·

That's the only two tone watch that ever appealed to me.

·

Thanks for reminding me to order one! Not sure where I’m gonna put it though, my watch box is pretty full with DC Comics Invictas.

·

No joke. Don't listen to folks that say it is - they're just jealous.

I'm on the waiting list, waiting for the call from my SS AD.

Pull that trigger bro..

·

This thread got weird. Can't a silly watch just be enjoyed? Is spending $49 on a fun gag that also supports a fellow watch enthusiast really too much to bear. 🙄

Hopefully Al Dente himself will call you. What a day that would be!

$49.25 on lottery scratch off tickets? I hope that's over time and not purchased in one go.

My wife and I do once a week. We get 10 of the $5 bingo scratch offs and do them together. She does 5 and I do 5. We know we aren't going to win a bunch of money. We need for nothing. It's just a competition we do to see who wins the most money. We use what ever is won towards the next week. The tickets take a few hours to do. We joke around and have a blast. It's some cheap quality time.

Ah. That makes sense. When I lived in San Francisco (this was in the mid-naughts), my then-girlfriend and her mom bought lottery tickets all the time. She's a lawyer--so it's not like she was scratching off to get paid--and I never understood the enthusiasm for lottery tickets. At times she would force me to buy them for myself, which I hated. "You could win hundreds of millions and then you won't have to leave the US ever." Needless to say, I'm no longer living in the US.

If she was US citizen and you got married you wouldn't have had to leave either. LOL

She is a US citizen but I didn't want to get married just for a green card. I have too much pride for that. And between you and me and the rest of WatchCrunch, I didn't really want to marry her for any reason anyway. That was a toxic relationship, hence she's now an ex. Without getting into it, she wore her whiteness on her sleeve. That's not a racist comment. I've had other relationships with white women (some of whom are also Americans) and never had their whiteness shoved into my face so much as that particular person. Think "you should be grateful I'm even talking to you. I'm white, I could have anyone and I chose you" comments during arguments.

When did this become a therapy session?

People are wearing them ironically man. It's not that complicated.

This is Google,for watch nerds

Thanks for asking my friend I wanted to know too 🤣😂

·

Not my brand of humour. I get it, but it's just not funny to me. And that's alright. 🤷‍♂️

·

I mean, for 25 bucks, it's not a bad gag gift/display piece. Like you're not buying it for the stellar horology, same way a joke shirt is bought coz of the dumb pic not for the quality

And for 25 bucks a watch, box, and two fridge magnets isn't half bad imo. Can attest that the quality isn't half bad either btw

Its a watch that has a story behind it. It's more interesting than 50% of watches in 50% of collections.

·

No thanks. No joke on the wrist for me.
