New pickup with a bonus!

I've been meaning to write this post for a few weeks now; man time flies when you add a person to the family!

Anyways, I have been eyeing this Marathon Arctic TSAR for a long time. I mean about two years long! It was one of the first Tritium watches I considered before I ended up getting a Ball instead. And I gotta say, it delivers.

What pushed me over the finish line this time was a Black Friday sale. 20% off plus a free watch! I figured the freebie would be one of their hard plastic field watches, and I was right. But what I did not expect is that it would also be a tritium maker dial. Nice surprise 😀 I topped it off with a stop watch because I've been meaning to get one for cycling.

I also love Marathon's no-nonsense approach to marketing. It is very specifically targeted at not babying your watch. You can tell from the product this was not made to be flashy, but very much a tool.

I'm quite pleased with this purchase. I'd also like to thank @Catskinner and @TimeJunkie for their advice on this one. I ended up getting the 41mm version which is the exact right amount of chunk I was looking for in this style of watch.

Enjoy your weekend WC.

Fantastic additions to the collection. Impressed with your patience to wait for the right deal. Well done!

Congratulations on a great watch & the bonus field watch! Thank you for the honorable mention 🙂. I hope you enjoy wearing something very toolish. Also, please let me know how the bracelet is. My GSAR came on a rubber strap that isnso good I never swapped it out OR considered the Marathon bracelet. On bracelet the watch looks awesome.

The bracelet is real nice, very solid. The links are a bit of a PITA because they are screw in but you have to use two screwdrivers to hold one end in place. That should protect them from threading out in concept however. And the clasp is ok, folded metal, which I don't mind, but others insist on milled clasps.

Nice Catch!! on my radar for a while as well… 🤔

Congratulations! You got yourself a terrific deal.

Heres the smaller Artic MSAR. Yeah, it’s a bit of chunky boy, but the 36mm seems fine for my purposes. I can’t really make out the difference in sizes from head on photos.

No complaints here about this tough little watch. I’ve done telco utility work with it as my daily; especially in the Pacific NW winter months.

I swam in lake and ocean with it, shot rifles with it on, ran, hiked…It works fine and keeps time.

May I congratulate you for your excellent taste and purchase? The Marathon is my go-to watch during the summer. Absolutely stunning watch!

I looked up your WRUW shots quite a bit. It really is hard to tell how it will wear, but it wears true to size I find.

It is tough picking a size for these! They both wear great from what I could tell before buying.

The video that convinced me on the 41mm was from Marc at Long Island Watches. And his wrist size happens to be the same as mine.

I'll be interested to read here about your feeling and experience with your SAR once you get used to it.

You got the white one. Nice!

You won’t regret it, it’s still one of my favorite watches after 5+ years!

I'll write a review eventually for sure. I'm still honeymooning.

This might take some time. I bought my Arctic MSAR right when it was launched by Marathon a couple of years ago and I'm still honeymooning.
