[Swatch Omega Moonswatch] - The Thrill Is Gone....

Yeap my friends... B.B. King predicted the end of the hype in 1992

Yesterday I was strolling in front of a Swatch Store here downtown so I had to enter and ask about the Moonswatch, they had several models, including the most desirable colours/planets.

And yes, it feels cheap as hell.

Ottawa was sold out on Monday... So there is clearly still a demand.

·

Still very dry (and often queues on weekends) here in London at the Oxford Street shop.

As usual it all depends where you live. Some already got their Pelagos 39 getting on the list 3 months after release day, here many ADs have received less than 5 in as many months.

·

I think people are seeing it for what it is now. Cheap and not looking so cheerful anymore!

All hype and no trousers....

·

#sydney had Sun, Mars, and Venus last time I checked, or the only three I wouldn't wear... 😬 Plus I've got Mission to the Moon and I don't need to pay AUD$380 for Pluto... The hype train has definately left the station.

I never understood the appeal. I figured in about a year  people would be selling them  on eBay for under $100.

I decided before that I'd rather get a Swatch. If you're going to get a plastic watch, then go ask the way with funky creative designs. At least there are Swatch models that are genuinely collectable.

·

I would absolutely be tempted by a 'sun' or 'neptune' at retail still.

·

So far I've been to Edinburgh, Rome and Bangkok (struggled to find the store let alone the watch). My brother has been to Venice, Warsaw & Krakow. We've had no luck atm 😂

I do still want one though. One day maybe 🤞

·

Some Swatch stores I've been to still don't get supplied with a lot of these watches, but shocking to see how many of them get left on shelves, considering the hype around them months ago.

·

I'm planning on visiting one of the London Swatch stores this weekend. But am planning on getting an Irony Skin. Might see if I can at least look at a Moonswatch though.

Try to take a look on Eaton Centre here in Toronto.

They had a Mission to Sun here

Cool! I'll hop on a plane 😁

Cheap is rarely cheerful. And if it is by some miracle cheerful, that cheer is inevitably transient.

Except Casio... 😉

I like the MoonSwatch, but I don't "5+ hour drive" like it.

I work beside the Rideau Centre, so popping over on occasion to see if they have anything works well for me.

Agreed.  I've read about folks who buy multiple versions.  It adds up to real money that could go towards a legitimate Speedmaster.

Rather have a Pagani moonwatch then the moonswatch. Just not my thing, ima fan of old swatch and love my Irony chrono but yeah, it's a no for me.

·

The hype has definitely dwindled, that being said i still want one just for the fun of it.

·

I think the hype is still up. I was in Rome and venice over the holidays and the Rome location was sold out and Venice had a very limited selection. Yes, the quality is on the cheaper side but what was expected from swatch for roughly 260 euro/dollars🤷🏼‍♂️

still a fun pickup in my opinion and I’m glad to be a moon swatch owner😁

I will get one one day! The Saturn one. But would gladly take a Mission to Uranus!

Unfortunately, I still haven’t even seen  one in person.
