It's a cool look. I had a watch back in the 90s that had a huge plastic dome crystal that looked like something out of a sci-fi flick. It was a novelty watch that wasn't built to last. This, on the other hand, is funky and legit.
You're right. They are marketed in the States as Strapcode. Many of the ones I've seen look bulky on the wrist, since the inner bits of the bracelet are quite thick; however, the one on yours looks perfectly balanced.
I've got an Alpinist that I've been looking to pair with a bracelet. Yours might be the one.
Cool review. I'm glad you're digging your watch. I have a real affinity for Seiko 5s of that era as they have the look and build quality of much higher prices watches imo. The only reason I'd stay away from your particular model is the integrated bracelet. I feel that watches in this range really stand out once they are put on an aftermarket strap.
I've got the SNK23 that I have paired with a mesh bracelet. It looks good and is comfortable, but I think I'm going to put it on leather to get a different feel.
