Hello everyone, my first post
Hi WCrunch fam,
I found this APP super cool so glad to part of the family. Am a collector in independent brands for 10 years from Hong Kong.
Started my watch collecting journey by Speedies and Navitimers and while start to progress to higher end mainstream, got advised by some seasoned collectors that when you drill deep thru the road, only independent watches can satisfy the thirst.
So I jump into the indie world directly and never looked back. =)
Look forward to see some cool watches and meet some cool collectors here!

Love HK and used to live there.
While certain independents are more innovative and bold in their design, doesn't mean you shouldn't look at mainstream names. I say let's not be biased, just buy what you fall in love with!

That is a spectacular Czapek! Love what they have been doing lately.
Looking forward to seeing some more wrist shots of great independents in the future.
It's a tough category to define in some ways...
Is Parmigiani Fleurier an independent? Since WatchBox acquired De Bethune, is it still an independent? Since Voutilainen now owns Cattin and Jurgensen, is it still an independent?
Does an independent have to be high five figures or six figures to be considered an "independent" by the watch cognoscenti? Like a Roger Smith?
Anyone who has a good answer to the above...please respond below.
I find there are still some really good options for independents in the low five figures that haven't been hyped yet.
Like Tortsi Laine...
Or others in four figures who collaborate with Voutilainen, like Ophion...
It’s a good food for thought. I do have Ming , Kurono Tokyo , Satory Billard etc these micro brands as well.
How I draw the line would be
- is the founder of the brand a watchmaker himself
- does the brand have capabilities to develop a new in-house movement
At this stage of collect, I will aim for the above.
