Wintertime time pieces

So I’ve always had a hard time, figuring out what style of watch I should wear during the seasons. For instance I have heard that you are supposed to wear leather in the winter and steel in the summertime. However, I see everybody wearing something different, so what is the rules here I love wearing my steel bracelets and I also love wearing rubber and leather straps as well. It’s very hard for me to figure out what to wear during the winter time some help be greatly appreciate it.

As far as I am concerned, there is really no rules!

Right here...

Will keep your wrist warm throughout the winter!

·

No one notices your watch. Wear what you're comfortable with.

The "rules" are more guidelines anyway

It's more about practicality than rules.

Summer sweat & leather don't really mix and neither do freezing temps & metal.

No white after Labor Day.

·

If you don’t know the rules you aren’t allowed to wear a watch. That’s just how it goes. Have you taken your annual watch exams yet?

·

Rules?

Imma post this again

I'm super surprised none said a pocket watch on a rubber band strap.

·

I’m confused too. If I’m wearing leather, can I wear brown in town?

Or is that shoes?! 🤷‍♂

see they said annual watch exams had been at 730.... but I didn't have a watch so I didn't get there on time.

Never used to worry but lately I wear leather and fabric in winter, metal bracelets and rubber in summer. Actually starting to prefer leather, fabric and rubber over bracelets as matter of personal choice.

·

I actually did question someone on the seasonality of their tweed watch band earlier this week.

Poor form: it’s not even the shooting season!

·

Savage, you will regress to a a Hobbesian state of nature with that kind of thinking. You sound like the child that wants to run across the street without looking. We are a society!

@WatchBee I think the tweed strap wearer was down under where seasons are backwards or upside down or something. I'm really not sure how that works.

Where can I find one?

Seeing a lot of leather vs metal debate here, I call and raise! 🃏

All gone 😥

Guess I won't be wearing any watches all winter long...

·

I suppose it would just depend on your situation. If you're a person who works inside I would think that it doesn't really matter what you wear. But outside it would matter more. I would say gear up for your environment. That's how I choose my watches and their bands.

·

As I'm UK based I rarely see extreme temperatures so I wear anything anytime. When it got a bit warm last week I went without, the strap/bracelet choice had nothing to do with it, I just felt too hot to wear anything.

I notice your watch and I silently shun your poorly timed fashion decisions. Sarcasm on that last part, but I do notice your watch and it is probably pretty cool!

i feel like it isn't even fair when it comes to g shock. It can do anything, and the modded Casioak have no right to be so good looking...

Casio struck gold with those, I think it's the number one watch that I've seen this summer, especially at the beach.(I still wait to see a modded one in the wild)

·

How about a Grand Seiko Winter on a leather strap? 😁

I find that I'm not a huge fan of leather bracelets in hot weather. I live in an area where winters can be brutally cold, so I tend to prefer straps over bracelets on the really cold days, but otherwise I just wear what I feel like wearing.

·

There are no rules.

Seen as most of my watches are on a bracelet. I kinda were the looser ones in Sumer when the wrist expands due to heat and wear the tighter ones in winter when my wrist has shrunk from the cold. Means I don’t add or remove links as the season changes just use the micro adjust if needed.

·

What you "should" do with your watches makes nice titles for YouTube videos but that's about all. The reality is, you do you. What do you want to do? Do that. I hate to be obvious, but it's that simple.

·

We don't have winter in India, so I wouldn't know. We have two types of climate: Sweltering hot or raining. That's pretty much it.

I can't find it but something about seasonality in Australia IIRC
