I was in a watch shop with my daughter, and they were making an inventory of the stock, and they had like 50+ watches out of their cases, and I was looking for a calculator watch to gift someone. my wife calls me, comes in (just because I was with the kid, otherwise she wouldn't come into a watch shop, she dreads that I will not stop talking about watch related stuff) and sighs and says:

"OMG, you better help this ladies put those watches back." looks at them and then says: "I'm so sorry. at least, he bought something?" and then she looks at me and said:"OMG, why are you like this?"

the faces of those sellers when they had to explain that it was an inventory, they had nothing to do with me, and all she said was: "my bad, but he does this from time to time"

the gbd200 is really a wrist bandit (someone told me that line, and I love it), that display, it's really comfortable, the app that lets you set up alarms on the fly. I mean, the display alone keeps other watches on their boxes. I've wore it to the beach and at pools all summer, and that display is really legible even under water.

no one said this, but you need a MIP display in your life. go to a shop and look at a gbd200 or his brother ( I believe) gbx100. they look so clear and crisp.

it's 2 in the morning, it's time to talk about my beater watch.

old and new posted above.

the old one is a kalenji watch from Decathlon, a sport store near me. it's a 10$ watch, but it's a real beater. I used to wear it at work on the outside of my gloves and then chuck it in a cup full of acetone or paint thinner to wash the paint from it. it got scratched and beaten, one time it was washed in a ultrasonic bath, and one time it got ice blasted, but the pressure was too much and it kept flopping around ...

for this kind of money you get even a light, that works really well, and it even has a fade in and fade out action.

and let's be honest, the dial isn't going to win major beauty contests, but you can read the time from an arm's length without problems.

I even had it on at my wedding. right now, it has a new battery, and sits in a paper bag, because he would not like it in a watch box. I think I'm not going to leave this over to my kids. I want to be buried with it.

and my new one, is my Casio g shock GBD200, who is really going to steal wrist time from other watches. it's the dial, the display is fantastic, I'm so in love with it at this point. maybe the honeymoon will be over, but I don't think so.

here is a pic of it with the light on.

being able to time things is a cool thing with dive watches.

when I was like 12 or 13 I had a really cheap but nice one that you could win by buying Kent cigarettes so it had Kent on the dial, and when my teacher showed me that you can time things with the bezel it literally blew my mind.

that was the first watch I've modded, and by modded I made a NATO style strap made of leather but it was wider than the watch. the strap was woven into the watch push pins and looked something like this with a watch on top
