So close, Timex. So close.

Just saw this new release from Timex - the Marlin “Jet”. I must say, it’s beautiful. Grooved space-age crown, domed hesalite crystal, funky case shape, sector dial, and retro styling. But why. WHY TIMEX did you have to put the Marlin name on the case??? Ruins it for me as it reminds me of the Invicta Pro-Diver case engraving.

Remove the case engraving and bump up the WR to 100m and I’d wear this almost daily.

What’s everyone’s thoughts?

At least it isn't repeated all around the rehaut or pressed ad nauseum into the dial.

Agreed. It’s still bugs me for some reason. Tho, it was a hot-take. Perhaps after I sit with it for a few it’ll grow on me - like the notch on the iPhone lol

This is extra annoying as the same word is already on the dial, like a quarter inch away.

·

I suspect that you wouldn't notice it after a day of ownership.

Precicesly!!!

According to Timex, the grooved bezel and "Marlin" are under the acrylic crystal... part of the "space age" design.

If you really hated it, it is probably just printed on and can be removed with the crystal off.

Possibly. Ooor… it would be on WatchExchange a day later 😂😂😂

·

Yeah I'm not in love with the case. Or the crystal.

Ahhhh. I see it now. That makes me wonder how noticeable it actually is in daily wear or if Timex has enhanced it for renders.

I dig the crystal. I’d have to see the case in person, but I just love that they’re doing this sort of thing at all.

·

I think the case looks attractive (minus the branding) in this image, but my experience with modern Timex watches is once I see them in person the quality is not where I want it to be.

·

It’s fine. Reminds me of a boat.

·

Domed crystal is really nice. Not quite sure why the double branding of model ? Marlin twice on front

It’s strange, right?

·

I agree! What are the dimensions?

I get it, but I still like it. It's dripping with Timex inspiration and character. The Marlin line needed some innovation. I can do without the Marlin double branding. It's still on my list.

Yea, I think I’ll still end up picking one up.

I agree with not liking the redundancy being so close together. I’d prefer Marlin only on the case, it’s a cool design fitting of the aesthetic, and replace Automatic with “self winding”which would be period-accurate for Timex. Neither are deal breakers for me though, Id just chalk it up as a little quirky which also fits for 60s space age. Beautiful watch with great dimensions over all though. Single pass might make it a bit thick, which in watches and women have also never been deal breakers.

I’m dead. That last line 🤣🤣🤣

I believe it’s like their Marlin Sub-Dial; it’s just a 24hr indicator.

Thanks!

·

Beautiful watch

·

If they made a chrono version, that internal bezel would be the tach.

·

I think it looks great! I don't mind the word Marlin at all. Really nice watch! Me approves.

·

I like the feel of it. with that extra word on the side.... I agree, redundant....but others might not even notice it when you ware it....

·

I like this watch, timex has been on a pretty good roll recently. I have their Q chronograph and it’s super nice. I do think that their automatics are alittle pricey for what they are but oh well.

How serviceable are Timex mechanical watches? Does anyone have experience?

They all use Citizen-Miyota movements. Any capable watchmaker is able to service these and parts are easy to come by.

·

I thought it was fine af, until I saw the other "marlin" on the bottom 😔

·

At 38mm, that's a no from me.

·

The name’s so nice, they printed it twice!

·

You know what? I'm not mad at it. It's a nice typeface and it'll get some cool distortions from the crystal. With the sector dial and 24 hour subdial, it gives it a nautical compass vibe.

Wow such a almost perfect watch what a wacky snobbish idea. By any chance can it get wipe off?
