$10,000 Fantasy Draft

Just for a bit of fun…

You’ve just been handed $10k with the instructions that you must spend it all on watches (terrible, I know 😂). Which three watches would you buy?

🔴Rules:

  1. You must buy 3 watches

  2. All selections must be available for purchase brand new, right now.

  3. No gray market pricing; MSRP only

  4. The watches you choose cannot be a watch you own or have owned

  5. The total must be more than $9k and less than $10k, but not a dollar over $10k

My picks:

IWC Pilot’s 36 for its perfect dial and proportions. It’s also a bit of luxury that flies under the radar.

Tudor Pelagos FXD because I’m an absolute sucker for tank-built watches with military-inspired designs. This watch would also fulfill my need for a rotating bezel in the collection.

CWC 15410 as a grab-n-go quartz option. Small, lightweight, well spec’d, from a brand with a great bit of heritage.

My Grand Total: $9882.51 USD

The rainbow 🌈 killed me. Love the first two choices as well.

I typically only buy used so this exercise made me think a bit.

Grand Seiko SBGA415 $6600

Longines Legend Diver 39 $3200

Bertucci A2T $155

Total = $9955

·

Nomos club 38 blue purple dial

Tudor Pelagos 42 blue

Longines heritage classic chronograph

Approx USD8 left

·

My picks:

  • Nomos Club Sport neomatik polar (37mm) – 2680€

Image
  • Tudor Pelagos 39 in black – 4700€

Image
  • Sinn 556i on H-link bracelet – 1325€

Image

Total: 8705€ = $9456.68

I actually wanted to pick a Longines Heritage Classic Sector instead of the Sinn and the total was under 10k€ but came out to about 10.6k$. I‘d still be very happy with these 3 though 😉😂

·

I know it's in euros, so it's more than $10K, but less than €10k, didn't feel like converting it haha

Frederique Constant Classic Worldtimer - 4.195€

Sinn T50 - 3.380€

Longines Master Collection L2.793.4.79.6 - 2.400€

Sinn is a good pick 👍. I considered the Longines Sector too but wanted a chronograph or flyback look.

Ideally, I’d just have a Santos and BB54 for £10k, but since I had to choose 3, I’ve swapped the Santos for a Tank and Zulu.

·

Tudor bb pro, longines conquest, oris big crown

·

Tag heuer monaco $6.5k

Oris aquis date $2K

Longines conquest $1k

·

A Vertex M100, grand seiko sbgw231 and a Sinn u50, I think I went way over, maths has never been my strong point and I work in £s

·

Oris Propilot X laser $5200

Tudor BB 36 blue dial $3925

Maen Brooklyn 36 €679

I think I barely made it under 10!

One thing we already knew, but this exercise shows how horribly high Omega has gone RRP

·

**The stipulation that it can’t be a watch I own or have owned is a tricky one, because I have a few watches that I would choose over something new**

With that in mind, here are my three:

  1. Omega Speedmaster Professional Hesalite. At a, frankly stupid, $7,000 I definitely blew the budget on this, but I (hypothetically) regret nothing.

Image

2. If I had an extra $1000 in the budget, I’d probably go for a Tudor Ranger to fill this slot, but at $1,590 it’s the Sinn 556a. Workhorse movement, 200m water resistance, and GADA good looks. What more do you need?

Image

3. Finally, it’s a field watch with potential for semi-dress duty, it’s the $895 Hamilton Murph 38. Again, if watches I own were on the table, it’d be my Longines Spirit, but the Murph fits a similar bill nicely.

Image

Total: $9,485

·

Tudor BB58 $3700, Christopher Ward Twelve $1,200 and Frederique Constant Worldtimer $4,500. Total = $9,400.

Want a nice GMT.

Radioactive. Enough said.

☢️ enough said. 👌

I'm a very unreliable person and therefore I'll take the money and spend 10$ on a Casio and the rest on fancy restaurants and women of negotiable virtue.

This was tough for me but I did my best:

Invicta Cerberus Men, Model 45957 - MSRP $5595

Image

Invicta Carbon Hawk Reserve Men, Model 38926 - MSRP $3695

Image

Invicta Aviator Men, Model 21735 - MSRP $695

Image

Grand Total $9985

Good luck to the rest of you, as this 3-man squad will wipe the floor with anything you put in front of them. 💪

These have to be AI generated, right?!

·

Here are my top three picks -

  1. PILOT’S WATCH AUTOMATIC SPITFIRE - $4900

  2. SEAMASTER DIVER 300M 36.25 MM - $4,400

  3. TISSOT PRX POWERMATIC 80 35MM. - $695

Total - $9995!

·

Sapphire Speedy, Traska GMT, Baltic MR01

·

Grand Seiko SBGA429 - $5k

Mühle Glasshütte Terrasport II - $1.7k

Longines legend diver 39mm - $3.2k

Total $9900

·

Think I've got it fixed for now

Iwc pilot mark XX £4850

Image

Bremont S301. £3350

Image

And then either Stowa marine 36 £981or I think I can scrape a Tudor ranger in.

Image
·

I'll play!

Speedmaster 3861 sapphire sandwich ($7600)

Image

Laco Flieger Pro ($1265 as configured)

Image

Christopher Ward C65 Dune ($1095)

Image

TOTAL: $9960

·
  1. Same choice here. It’s a great flieger. $5,400

Image

2. It can be boring for the ones that already have it, but for us that don’t, still a watch to pursuit. $4,000

Image

3. You can’t beat a classic. $600

Image

Total amount: Exactly 10K 😎

·

I will take a stab - In Canadian dollars because I am weird like that.

  1. Tudor Royal (3200)

  2. Rado Captain Cook (3100)

  3. Grand Seiko SBGX261(2700)

You got your fancy watch, you got your diver, and you got yourself a reliable quartz everyday watch. Would I rather spend that 10K on one really nice watch? Yes, but rules are rules.

·

I had to think about this one…

Omega Speedmaster 38-$5600

Longines Legend Diver 36-$2500

Seiko Prospex SPB411-$1500

Grand total:$9600!

Image
Image
Image
·

I don’t think in USD but these are probably about the right amount:

Serica 8315

Fears Brunswick

AnOrdain Model 1 or 2

Not sure if the last one counts as “available “ strictly speaking though

·

Oris Divers 65 $2,800

Atelier Wen Perception: $3,150

GS SBGX347 $3,300

Edit: The Atelier Wen is on pre-order, but I think that still counts. It’s available to order, you just won’t get it for a while
