That’s it for now - my 3 Watch collection

Hi,

I just wanted to show my current three watch collection after selling many of my watches. For now I really like this and don’t want to spend more. (Eventually I might replace the Chrono with a Diver)

I’m open to comments and discussions. Let’s go!

Congratulations and buy no more. A pox upon any enablers that may tempt this man.

What? Those three? Any proper collection must have at least one __________________.

Nicely done , I’m doing the same exact thing ! I think for me a three watch collection is a sweet spot. I had over 150 watches. I was hoarding lol. It also was stressful to have that many and never wear 90 % of them. Now I’m bonding with my watches and I’m able to really appreciate what I have. Good job! We may be a part of a growing trend - enjoy your collection 👍

I feel the same but have bought two this year ! I have made a pledge to only replace from now on. I will see if that works !

man you really took it to the next level but yeah I think making just a few watches staple of your wardrobe or just your identity, in a way that people always think yeah he always wore that watch, is kinda cool

Very nice choices....Enjoy the hobby!!

·

I like all three choices ... the Traska is the anti-GMT-Master II of GMTs, the Sugess looks great with those colors, and the baby Alpinist is on my list - I much prefer it to the compass-bezel version, especially since the addition of the cyclops. 👍

I have my "top three" (chrono, diver, field) but also have spare quartz ones (square g-shock, diver, field) that get nearly as much wear and that fill out my 6-slot watch box.

Diver's are my favorite style (I like the look, the robustness, and the timing bezels) despite my preference for lighter and thinner watches.

·

very nice balanced... looks great on your wrist...what more is there to say? I'm almost jealous of the small and balanced choices you did

·

"Broke college Student with a weakness for good Coffee and Watches"do you have also a nice coffee machine? 😜 just asking since I am Italian 🤣

·

Nice collection

·

Nice watches and bonus points for not having a really hairy arm.

·

“For now”…2 little words, so much pain!

for that reason and the cleaner look with one crown I chose the baby alpinist.

also what do you mean by anti-GMT-master II I really wanna know.

Thank you very much. sometimes I feel the baby alpinist is almost a little small when it's on a strap.

My first watch was a g-shock and the first one I bought when I got into collecting was the 42mm Seiko sport so I think that's why I went towards smaller watches to change it up. Also I love that the baby alpinist is fairly thin, has an interesting dial, the 70hr PR and 200 m WR. Its a real spec monster and as a little watch geek I can appreciate that.

I guess I am broke because I have fairly nice things 😅.

But here you go these are my two Italians (Pavoni and Eureka) I really cherish. The pavoni has been handed down to me by my parents as they appreciate good coffee aswell and needed something with a bigger capacity. It has been in the family for almost 30 years and Is certainly older than me.

I'm on board with the three-watch collection (just not yet). I'm going to whittle down my small collection to three and keep upgrading those three as time goes on. This way, I still get to buy new watches, but I won't have a bunch of unworn watches.

The GMT-Master II has a (usually colorful) bi-color external bezel whereas the Traska has a subdued gray internal bezel, the Master II has sub-style indices whereas the Traska's are more like a Datejust, the Master II has a 3-o-clock date with a cyclops whereas the Traska has a 6-o-clock date, and the Master II has a Mercedes handset and the Traska has a stick handset (with color outlining the GMT hand arrow instead of the arm)...

...so many GMTs take cues from the Master II, but the Traska doesn't... hence the "anti-GMT Master II" comment.

if there is any that would be my plan. I just have difficulties letting go especially after you developed an emotional bond with a watch after a year or two.

okay wow I had never given it that much thought but It does make sense the way you explain it. Honestly im not a big fan of the GMT-Master II. If Rolex, then my choice would be the Explorer II.

And what I liked about the Traska besides the mind-blowing specs was its Design which is taking from classic designs but somehow managing to be vintage inspired original. And everything down to the width of each lug itself feels so well thought through.

Very Solid 3-watch collection.

Like you, I'd add a dive watch, but it would replace the Alpinist for me.

from a diversity perspective in the collection that would make sense. But I dont think I can part with my baby alpinist. Also I kind of realized that I dont really need a diverse collection with watches for every situation. The truth is I am not a diver. if I need to time anything I can use my phone and if I need a different time zone honestly that I can do in my head.

So the whole point of my watches is just me enjoying them and I think I would be most likely enjoying my baby alpinist more than the chrono.

Also nobody ever has complained about people wearing a field watch to a formal event. Heck people wear Apple Watches with suits now it doesn't matter anymore.

Thats kinda my thought process behind the whole collecting thing but I get that you are going for a balanced collection.

Yeah, you do you. I said {I} would replace the Alpinist mostly because I love chronographs, but I get that others are gonna do different.

Our coffee machines have a similar story. Mine was also in the family but was never used (as no one could make good coffee out of it). i took it in for service and now it works like new! For the grinder, I chose the Eureka Mignon Specialità because you can adjust and set the grinding time. You only have to weigh it the first time and adjust it every few weeks. Tip: The eagle on top costs a horrendous amount, I wouldn't buy it myself anymore.

·

I also reccomend a coffee drawer. Do you have one? If not just buy something that fits but NOT the original from Pavoni. Its huge, its cheap, it make a lot of noise and its really expensive. But well... it looks great :-P

Wow that's a funny coincidence. I didn't buy the specialita because of the aforementioned being broke. But I would have gotten that one. And yes it's quite tricky to make good coffee from this it took me about a month until I got the first really good coffee out of it and I dont think its perfect yet.

How do you like the Traska GMT? I currently daily a 36mm Summiteer and I'm in love. Looks great IMO, bracelet is the most comfortable I've ever owned, and it's tough as nails.

my thoughts about the GMT are essentially the same as yours.
