What is non retunable?

You cant return the watch

·

No, but only if the item is $50 or less.

·

That kind of inflexibility is a red flag to me. I've never felt the need to return anything from eBay but I don't like the idea that there's no comeback.

·

I think it depends on the seller rating, quality of their listing (photos, description, etc), cost of the item, and what the item is. Though I can't say I've purchased a watch on eBay yet.

I sell on eBay, don’t accept returns because I don’t know if the person will buy it and return a franken watch to me, demanding their money back. eBay always sides with the buyer, so we’re left screwed.

There is no way to prove that? Great to hear from the seller side also thanks!

I will steer clear of those. The audacity of saying you don't accept returns in an online marketplace where a buyer cannot physically inspect & take immediate delivery of the goods is just a huge red flag for me.

It may be as simple of not wanting to deal with the back & forth or it may be a way to more easily move fakes, crappy goods or even stolen goods. At a minimum they'll just make a legit return more of a hassle than it needs to be & I just don't want to deal with that.

I stopped selling on eBay years ago because of idiot buyers who would want to return something due to "buyer's remorse". EBay does not care. It is not a seller friendly platform. Every time I was forced to reimburse a seller and also pay return shipping. Had one sale where they wanted a return and never did return the item. Then they complained to eBay that what was delivered was not what was pictured. Guess what happened? I still had to reimburse them and I was left without a watch. My listings have always been more than detailed. There is just no excuse. Then there is always that one buyer who would say something like, "the watch is too small. I didn't realize 36mm was as small as it is on my wrist. Looked much bigger in pics". EBay is not the place for someone to be trying on watches. That's what an AD is for. Too many novices and scammers ruined it. Moved my selling to Chrono24 and have never had a return.

·

I don't know about anywhere else, but in the UK even if it is non returnable, if it is defective or not as described you can still get a refund. No returns just means you can't change your mind and send it back if you don't like it.

But some watches wear differently, no?

Do you offer returns on C24?

Can confirm. Ebay sort of regards it as a suggestion at best. I have used it in my posts to sort of underline that vintage watches are inherently in need of service so please adjust your expectations etc. But ultimately people can usually get away with returning something (which is a raw deal for sellers, but it is what it is)

You cant return the watch

Oh you mean non refundable? It’s been a long day, I had no idea what you were saying.

·

If anyone on eBay doesn't allow returns, the only safe assumption is because they know it's fake. I never buy anything on eBay without returns.

Then again, I don't accept returns when I sell things on eBay either because it's a pain in the butt so you know, maybe you'll get lucky lol

·

Depends on the cost.

·

Depends, if it's a high rated seller they're usually good about helping you. I got a lightly worn PRX auto from a non-refundable and it showed up with additional scratches from shipping. The seller was kind enough to give me a nice discount and I ended up paying last than 30% retail

I just purchased a watch to give as a gift and I needed it fairly quickly ..It has been over two week and i still do not have it. I went and purchased the same watch local and gave the gift. Tried to schedule a return, for when the watch finally gets here but to no avail..cant happen. Sucks so now Im stuck with another watch I dont need..LOL

·

The only risk of buying a watch on eBay is receiving a watch and not knowing that it is a fake. If you receive a fake, defective, or broken watch, you can 100% return the watch regardless if they accept returns or not.

Does the tracking show the order ever shipped?

Private sellers shouldn't have to accept returns. If they are a professional seller however it is a red flag.

·

I’ve sold 15 watches on eBay, all on a non-returnable basis. I’m just a private seller looking to get a bit of money back from my purchases, and selling at a hefty discount (loss to me) for that reason. There is no way that I’d accept returns; and I think it’s fine for those I buy from to take the same view. We’re not businesses with returns departments and discounts on shipping costs.

·

No I have returned a couple of non returnable watches. Just because they didn't meet the description given ie they were listed as running but that were not.

·

Option C : Maybe.

The 'unscrupulous' exist on both sides of the transaction. You have to study listings very carefully. eBay's Authenticity Guarantee is a plus for the buyer: well, it's something at least, if not 100%. "Buy the seller", as they say.

"Buy the buyer" would be good too, if you have suspicions about a purchaser - not easy to discern or do much about that unless you pull-out of a sale.

I wouldn't try to sell watches that one values highly (whatever this means to you), on eBay. Too risky.

·

If the watch isn’t as described you can return it regardless of the return status. Returnable means you can return it if you don’t like it with no questions asked as to damage or discription. If I commit to buying a watch I will own the fact that I don’t like it for some reason and sell it on myself so long as it was correctly described in the listing. If it has damage that wasn’t made clear I return them eBay allow returns for this reason regardless of the return or no return policy

Chrono24 has a more realistic window of allowing returns within 14 days. EBay has a ridiculous 30 day window. The scammers on EBay normally wait until the very last minute to file a return. I sold about 400 watches in the ten years I was active on there and dealt with maybe 15 returns. All of them were a nightmare and usually it was buyer's remorse. Someone would feel they paid too much, or they saw the same watch on sale elsewhere, or they didn't like the way it looked on their wrist. Let me tell you, after someone wears something for 30 days, it never comes back in the same condition you sent it. Many times they would fail to include the box or papers I sent it in. EBay almost always sides with the buyer on anything. I complained a few times and have been on their customer service lines giving them detail about buyer's I suspected were committing fraud. They did absolutely nothing. One thing I have noticed on Chrono24 is that buyers tend to communicate more and ask more questions before a sale. I think because it is strictly a watch site, the people you are dealing with know watches and they're not playing around. A lot of my items have had options for negotiating prices and you can tell a lot about a buyer with how they're communicating. I've sold about 20 watches on there and all have been a great experience.

·

Situational, depends how much, and sellers rep. Even if it says returns accepted, I have had them deny on some items, so nothing is truely guaranteed

Never thought about it from this standpoint! Thanks! Good to hear from a seller
