Straps: Too long or too short?

I've always felt watch straps never come in a short enough length. But maybe a lot of you find the opposite to be true. So I ask you fellow WatchCrunchers, does anyone else have issues with watch strap lengths?

7.5" wrist and they're always ok. Most bracelets need 2 links removing.

My wrist is just shy of 7.5 inches so most straps are good for me.

7.5" wrist is the dream in the watch world.

6.5 here and watch straps are too long. Apart from Cartier where they are often just right (though surely too short for some!)

Delugs you can pick short lengths - those are great! Check out this awesome saffiano number..

With the large wrist, my answer is expected.

·

There are several options for larger wrists but there's some styles that are never the right size unless you go custom.

·

Well, there may be fewer of us B voters, but we can take your lunch money.

We need it to buy longer straps.

I find the same. I have a 6.5” wrist and use up to the second-last hole on my leather straps.

Recently purchased a REM strap (amazing products if you don't know them yet), had to order it bespoke because they didn't have 19mm lug width, so I took the opportunity to also ask for a strap just a bit shorter of what they usually propose and it looks fantastic! I have a 7.1" wrist so it's usually okay but it's nice not to have that big strap-end flapping around...

6 inch wrist here. It’s such a struggle finding straps/bracelets that fit, even with micro adjustments. A short lug-to-lug size is also hard to find. I typically max out at 46.5mm - 47mm.

D - I wear bracelets.

I expected people to have the same issue as me, but not nearly this result. I think it's a good case for watch and watch strap companies to downsize a little bit. Or at least offer short length straps and NATOs for their big sellers. Crossing fingers that someone related to the business sees this. If you're looking for short length straps:

Veblenist

Holben's

Uncle Straps

Barton - They don't offer short length, but I've had luck with them fitting well even if I have to use one of the last two holes.

Would love to hear any other companies offering shorter length watch straps. I've yet to really find a good place for shorter length cordura straps or natos.

A lot of straps aren't physically too long, but lack adjustment holes for smaller wrists. How hard can it be to poke a few more holes? Too hard for watch companies apparently.

I've never bought a 'regular' leather strap and been able to tighten it beyond the second-to-last hole. When I buy a 'long' leather strap, meanwhile, I'm generally on it's second-to-first hole. Neither are comfortable. I seem to have a stupid sized wrist. So I have a leather strap on just 1 of 8 watches.

18cm/7 inch wrist but with a weird shaped wrist that requires a longer length on the buckle side. Ideal would be 82+mm on the buckle side strap and 118 on the hole side straps. My go-to are RIOS straps for this reason.

·

Regular length straps are about 0.5" longer than ideal for the male median wrist circumference of just under 7". I guess the idea is that you can always punch a hole if it is too long. 😂 when I wear them it looks ridiculous with the pointy end all the way at the other side touching the lugs basically.

I always buy custom straps, usually from Vietnam on Etsy. Quality is great, many color and style options and not much more expensive than the standard stuff you find online.

·

TOTAL length is usually good for me (6.5 inch; 16.5 cm). Just wish I can shorten the side with holes and lengthen the buckle side. Would allow the buckle to sit more centered on the underside of my wrist.

Don’t for get Delugs

I don’t even bother with the OEM straps anymore. If I buy a new watch, I’ve already ordered a short aftermarket strap for it.

Almost 7.5" wrists and almost all the straps I have purchased fit fine.

Oddly enough, Crown & Buckle Premium NATOs and Chevron adjustable have really awkward fits for me. The NATO is not long enough to fully fold back on itself the traditional NATO way and too long to wear without the fold back. The Chevron fits but the two keepers are fixed meaning they end up wedged against each other and tucking the tail is a lot more difficult than you would think.
