Favorite place for watch spotting?

Yesterday I spent a good chunk of the day in an airport, and among the sea of apple watches I saw some pretty cool things on the wrists of the people around me. The guy in front of me at the baggage check line had a beautiful new Submariner. I saw someone with a no-date Aquis. One guy had the all-steel g-shock in a gold tone, and it was interesting to see what all these people choose to put on their wrist.

What are some places you go that you spot a lot of interesting watches?🤔

I live in a country with cold climate. Our watch spotting season is June to August. Then I think best place is restaurants and bars.⛄️

These ladies think golf clubs are a good place 😬

Personally, my eyesight and watch knowledge isn't good enough to identify anything further away than my own wrist 😆

for me its the wedding party, usually people use their best watch in their collection. in working environment they usually wear smartwatch or a g shock at best

I've been working from home for so long now that I don't spot much anymore (except for the bezel set Day Date on the guy who runs my local grocery store).

It feels like it's changed over the years.  When I started working on a Trading floor right after Casino Royale came out, the kids all got Planet Oceans.  Then it was Subs.  Then I changed offices closer to the colleges, and bunch of the kids had Royal Oaks.  It feels like the other bosses in my last couple of companies have just worn Apple Watches.

I'm not sure what it would be these days; probably less interesting with fewer kids in the city.

The best place for me are the trains in Tokyo.

Airports are a good place to observe since everyone is conscious of time. Here in the Philippines, weekends are one of the best times to go watch spotting, particularly Sundays. In church buildings in the morning, at restos for lunch, and at malls and favorite parks in the afternoon and early evening.

What do you see a lot of there? I'd be fascinated to know what the popular choices are in the Japanese market.

In Orlando, you’ll always see nice watches walking Park Ave in Winter Park. Most commonly seen models:

  1. New Rolex submariner
  2. Two-tone Rolex Submariner
  3. Gold Submariner
  4. Hulk Submariner
  5. vintage Submariner
  6. No-date Submariner
  7. Cermit Submariner

Typically worn with a button-up Oxford and shorts in some golf-course friendly color or pattern.

I live near the Chesapeake Bay, big yachting and boating area. So seafood restaurant by the water with docks. Lots of Divers, Seamasters, Subs, etc.

I notice everything everyone wears in tv or movies as well as walking about.

Mainly it is Japanese watch brands like Seiko and G Shocks, but when it comes to luxury watches  it is Rolex.

Wow! Orlando doesn't look like they love the Submariner, huh? 😜

Yikes! I know what you mean, there are so many homage brands out there that I have to spend way too long staring to id a watch 😂

Yeah I'd be interested to see what the demographic breakdown is like in different areas and professions. I manage a credit union and my hamilton is the fanciest watch I ever see. But that's the Midwest for ya there just don't seem to be that many people here who have an interest in it 😅

Good call! Yeah I rarely spot anyone wearing watches in my city, unless I go to a jeweler and chat up the guy at the watch counter lol. I occasionally spot some of the older guys with a timex and my father-in-law has a Breitling Aerospace he never wears, but that's about it.

🤣 well how's that for variety? I've only seen 3 submariners in the metal in my 32 years in this earth

I used to live on the coast too, but I wasn't that into watches before I moved to the Midwest so I wasn't on the lookout

Just saw the other day a guy wearing a blue bezel Sub, in line at the grocery store. 😜
