Tag Heuer Monaco - does this wear well, would you consider one?

Have you considered a Tag Heuer Monaco, what are you thoughts? Which one would you get? I've always been curious of the Monaco, so recently I tried one from the local AD. It looks so distinct and everyone in the office has a Rolex, I thought I quite fancy a Monaco, being different and looking cool. It does have a lot of wrist presense though :)

This watch has a great history, launched in 1969, I think it was the first automatic chronograph. Also fun fact, this was Steve McQueen’s watch from Le Mans and Walter White’s from Breaking Bad 😊

Also, wear what you like!! It’ll stand out when the rest of the office wears a Rolex :)

·

I love the look and vibe of this watch, shades of Steve McQueen and le mans, disappointingly for me it would look way to big on my smaller wrist, if I could pull it off I would have one in my collection

Ah ha!

You’ve stepped on a land mine! 💥

But seriously, this baby, which I’ve been in person with, is a real comment monster! You’ll get a sticker for this for sure!

Now to the point: I do not like this watch. I didn’t like the feel of it, I found the sharp edges REALLY irritating - something just jagged about a rigid bit of pointy metal on top of your wrist - and then the dial!

Honestly it really does look like the sign for a gas station!

Now I’ll go and hunker down in my special virtual “crawl space of solitude” to weather the storm.

This oughta be good! 🦂 🕷️ 🦟 🦀 🦣 🧚🏼‍♀️

I love this watch. So cool. Can’t afford it but I love it.

In the race to be the first automatic Chronograph, Zenith, Heuer and Seiko are fighting for the winner's place. A great watch with F1 history and lineage. My first and most beloved grail

Everything that #Balanced said is true. And yet this is one of my grail watches. Nothing looks like this. 8n person it has a huge amount of presence. In Gulf Livery, please.

·

Not for me. It’s too big. 👎🏼

·

The watch has great history, but I personally would never wear one 😂

·

This is such a classical piece, absolutely love it!

No

I’m for it 👍🏽

I've been a fan since I first saw it. For this reason I purchased the Gulf Racing Edition.

I've tried it on at an AD sometime in October. Not for me.

I don't know about the desirability of this watch and i don't mean to put it down. I say its not for me, as it looks too cartoonish for my liking. I just learned however, never to say never about watches, because i recently started to look at a couple of dress watches. They were left to me by my dad. So at least ill look at it, appreciate it and give it a chance. If it calls to you or you have a small group of unique watches pick it up. I think the more unusual or less popular, probably the less available and harder to get. (I'm just guessing) Get it. Enjoy it. Duane.....Black Diamond, WA. 98010

Excellent watch. Had one several years ago.

The left-side crown Gulf edition reissue is on my wishlist; it just kills on the blue/orange rally strap imo. I agree it does have a big presence though, in terms of both size & design. Not a fit for everyone's personality I think.

I'd look on secondary if I were seriously looking at a Monaco though because like most TAGs you can get them for a steep secondhand discount even in great condition

Love the gulf, sweet piece

Saw them at the tag boutique. Im not a fan of the square shape and the bulky looks. I went for the reverse panda glassbox carrera instead.

It is best to look at these in person before deciding on a purchase. Individual tastes varies. Have fun. ☺️

ALWAYS WANTED ONE, hopefully for my 50th next year, this one!!!! 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙

To be honest, mate, it’s looking a bit too big🤷🏼‍♂️. Both in lug to lug and thickness. Just my opinion.

·

Yes that works 👍

·

I tried it at a Tag Heuer boutique too. Love it, fits well on my 6.5” wrist. The price is a bit high and can be found for a lot cheaper on the secondary market so i feel like it’s best to buy second hand. Great watch, cool history, iconic look, go for it.

·

Great watch and I wanted one for yours. Bought one last year (returned a Speedy 3861 Sapphire for one). Owned for 8-9m and wore twice a week. Distinctive, Iconic, but after a day of wearing glad to take off and put my BB58 on. Glad I owned it, look great in pictures but not a daily for me. I had the calibre 11 McQueen & wore in the new Gulf dark blue strap which suited it better IMHO. Crazy RRP now especially for the modular movements (but I prefer the LH crown). The H02 movements agre great and are the sunburst dials but they are thicker. Tag are increase their prices 6% soon in the UK also.

I’ll also add I appreciate a 12hr totaliser on a chronograph also. As much as I like the 2 register layout, 30mins is annoying.

It’s a classic watch with rich history. But personally, I don’t think I can pull it off. Way too big, and the shape would restrict my movement.

But still hypes me up every time I spot one!

Thanks for the honesty, it does look large :)

Thanks for sharing, love the look on you!

I tried it on so many times and it always felt too big and unbalanced for me on the strap. The bracelet is a game changer. It feels smaller on the bracelet somehow but also better balanced and pretty comfortable.

·

Yes, I have this grand idea of buying one when I go to Monaco to watch the F1.

No, I have no plans to go to Monaco to watch the f1, at least not any time soon!

·

I'm so conflicted on the Monaco. Incredible history, and undeniably very cool from the point of view of it's background, but I just never think they look very good on the wrist to me. Maybe I need to try one on first 😅

Yes, it's quite a slab even on my 7+ inch wrists
