Could anyone can share their Breitling Navitimer experience? Love the look of this watch!

A colleague recently said to me he previously had a breitling some 10 years ago purchased new from an AD but the chrono hands fell off and had to get the watch repaired a couple of times!! Does anyone have a similar experience they could share? There is a great deal on at the mo and I am half tempted, many thanks!

This was my dad's grail watch. He bought one a few years before he died and passed it onto me. I gave it to my sister who's husband wears it regularly. No issues at all with the watch. If you like the look and the way it wears go for it.

No issues with mine.

I have a Superocran Heritage, started to lose about 30 seconds a day at 4 years old and could only be repaired by Breitling because of the in-house movement. Luckily it had a 5 year warranty but if it goes again then it’s gonna cost a lot more than a watch that could be serviced by my local watch repair guy.

Not trying to put you off but cost/ease of serviceability should be a consideration.

My Navitimer 92 is over 20 years old and I’ve had zero issues.

I would put one on my list if it had 100m of WR. I know it's a pilot watch but having that extra peace of mind is worth it to me.

·

Nice watch! Don't have one but my buddy @LanceLim does. Maybe he could share his own experience with you..😊

I've always thought they looked pretty cool....BUT....

They look like I'd need a college course to learn to operate even half of their utility. And wearing a watch without knowing how to work it would be silly. So I just admire them from afar. 😀😜

You can experience bad luck with any brand at any price point. I bought my first Chronomat in 1989, put it towards a pre owned Patek perpetual, my older brother picked up a Chronomat and a Navitimer around the same time, his daughter was gifted the Breitlings after he passed more than 12 years ago, she wears both watches. Neither timepiece have ever been serviced. My own experience with the brand: they do lose value if you buy new without a discount but are robust generally trouble free. I picked up a new Datora last December, will definitely purchase a new Breitling sometime this year.

I had the chance to try on the Navitimer recently and I say go for it. It’s a beautiful watch and I don’t think you’ll regret it.

I get that, the point is that - as far as I know - modern models are only able to be repaired/serviced by Breitling so the cost of doing that when needed is quite high, especially for more complicated models.

Sorry for you loss and thanks for sharing. I am loving the fact that these watches are often passed down to love ones:)

Thank you! My daughters who are now already adults living their own worthy lives still refer to certain Breitlings as “UNCLE WATCHES”. 🙏

I have 'a few' Breitlings for many years and never had an issue with any. Thankfully.

·

For me it’s the daddy of chronos much more interesting than a million Speedies - not sure how legible it is though

I have a friend with the “navitimer world”. They’ve had it for over 15 years and other than losing some power reserve over the years, it’s held together well. I’d like to know what your coworker did to make the hands fall off-I’m not certain they took good common sense care of their navitimer

·

No issues with mine. It’s on my short list of pieces I would never part with.

Sometimes it’s just bad luck. I had to send my Tudor BB Panda Chrono back to Tudor twice within 7 months of purchase. What matters is the brand and the AD standing behind the watch and most importantly…you.

He told me the watch was not misused, and said maybe he had a poorly put together watch from the AD. It was repaired but he sold it off shortly after. I still love the look so thought I'd ask to see if anyone else had similar experiences, it is a little unbelievable.

It looks awesome on you, and very well said sometimes it is bad luck and if the AD makes it right that's reassuring. It probably puts me off of 2nd hand market a little.

Hello!

No issues on my Navi so far! Granted I have only had mine for 3 months. The only complaint I have with it is the crown. Not sure if they fixed this with later models (maybe others can vouch) but the crown is weirdly hard to grip, and if you consider the toughness of the B01's winding as well, setting the time for this watch is a chore.
