Orient Kamasu

Looking to buy one of these and was wondering if anyone has purchased or owns one? Had no dealings with this brand and would appreciate peoples feedback and experiences

Orient is one of the best values in dive watches under $500. I have an older Mako that is great.

·

Nice watches with fewer quality problems than Seiko

·

I have a few orients…. You will not be disappointed 👌🏻

·

I don't own one of these but I have a couple of orient watches and there phenomenal for the money, I'm a huge fan of this brand, go for it you will not be disappointed

·

I have the blue one. The rotating bezel is a bit stiff... but I cannot find other drawbacks: stunning dial and in general great watch for the price!

·

Had the Grand-daddy variant now since '07. Still wear it. Orient makes good, solid, watches.

Just got my red dial a few days ago. Put it on a strap because I don’t like bracelets. Wears comfortably, and not as big as it seems like it should. The dial is beautiful. I find the design both elegant and bold if that makes sense. Some don’t like the stiff bezel, but it feels nice to me.

·

Go for it, definitely a solid and value for money watch. Cannot find a better watch with good specs from a well-reputed brand at the $200-300 price point. There is also another version of the Kamasu, the V1.

The only con I would say is the bracelet but it is decent for the price and is usable out of the box. You get 22mm lug width so plenty of strap options and there are aftermarket bracelets available for the Orient divers.

·

For myself no, but my brother has an orient diver and its really good. Sort of peripherally I can say they are good.

·

Very good quality! I have a Kamasu and it's great.

Great value, great specs, movement is a sweety (and reliable) and the new ones look awesome. So it's a 👍 from me.

·

I own the one pictured in your post. I love it and it’s one of my go to watches. Excellent build quality.

I have the mako 2 and a kamasu v1.

Big pros :

affordable

Stylish

Good movement

Sapphire (kamasu)

Bracelets are okay (kamasu better)

Meh :

Bezel action is stiff

Mako cristal will look like a mess if you wear it as a daily watch.

Cons :

Not much considering the price

Orient kamasu is very good for what you pay for. I find it a little big now since I prefer wearing smaller less heavy watches now but that's very subjective.

If you don't mind quartz and prefer smaller watches I can't recommend enough the Seiko prospex Sne573. It's solar and iso certified true diver. It's a tiny bit more expensive but you won't have to service it in a few years. Sapphire crystal 200m.

It's an amazing watch!

·

I have that same Kamasu gen 2 except in teal fumé. It's an amazing watch for the money. Compared to my similarly priced Seiko divers, the Kamasu feels more expensive and refined with thinner lines and chamfered edges, and the wearing experience is much better thanks to the flat case design and curved lugs. If I had to choose, I would pick Kamasu every time.

·

Best investment you will ever make ! Solid piece of technology with Automatic movement that competes with Swiss makers but for a fraction of a price;)

you can never go wrong with orient, philip! best value for money and kamasu is one of it. i started my watch collecting with orient 👍

·

My buddy just got one as his first watch and it's really impressive for the price with sapphire and all. It actually wears a bit smaller than the specs would suggest. That being said there is are new 39mm that just hit the market 😊

·

Many thanks for your feedback, much appreciated. I most definitely will be having this watch 👍

That’s a lovely looking watch you have, I am going to take the plunge. Thanks for your insight

I’ve got one in blue see photo, I didn’t know much about the brand it was a watch I’ve loaned from a friend @chunky I really like it, go for it 👍🏼

15 years ago Orient divers, while costing almost nothing, they were pretty bad but now everybody I know in the watch community talk highly of them. Keep in mind a 300 bucks watch will have it's flaws, but for the money I think it is unbeatable

·

Great watch. Just harder to screw down the crown. Due to crown guards with smaller crown.

·

Love my Kamasu 🥰

Bought one of these beauties a week ago. Love the colour, the look and the fit on wrist. Not the lightest watch but I like to know it's there. Buy one, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I have two Orient, a jdm Chrono Panda solar and a Bambino.

Both are in my watch gallery.

The Solar is a great, a solid 8/10, especially for the price.

The Bambino has gotten less wrist time lately, but is a good first buy.

·

I’m definitely going have to look into Orient

·

I have two Orients in my collection, the same Kamasu v2, and the Mako 3 Solar Chronograph. Orient makes a great product and you get a lot of bang for your buck. On my Kamasu, I swapped out the stock bracelet for a Jubilee bracelet just to dress it up a little more. You won’t be disappointed with the Kamasu.

Solid dive watches indeed !!! You won't be disappointed. They generally look better in the flesh !! And I also picked up the all black PVD version because @benandwatch is taking care of the blue.

·

I have one, it suits a lot of bands and straps. The original strap is ok, but I would change it. It runs about +10 or 15 seconds a day. I love the watch it's a really solid diver.

·

My father received one last year, and I hardly ever see him without it. And I entirely agree that the quality is excellent for the cost. He just had one issue, which was that the crown makes it difficult to change the time. But I would definitely suggest this watch to any man searching for a dive watch.
