I think it's always a little weird seeing watch YouTubers reviewing a watch that they're currently selling. Maybe I'm wrong, but being a watch REVIEWER and SELLER should stay separate things to avoid any ulterior motive. I get there's promo and maybe I don't know enough T3 to have an opinion, but something definitely felt off about that Aqua Terra video and a few others.
I totally feel that! Yeah, especially if you got onboard in the post-budget-Seiko era then Islander's homages are some of the best (coming from a guy who has owned three, Marc has great customer service as well) so hopefully he will keep a balance of original design + his homage watches for people looking to scratch that Seiko itch.
Great idea! After a few weeks with the Bayport I'll make sure to post a review. :)
Orient (never owned one but always been fascinated, just never liked a model enough to pull the trigger)
Phoibos
Seagull 1963
Hemel
Glycine
On the topic of Islanders though, check out their new Bayport diver! I just ordered the brown dial, I think they've finally branched out from their previous homage, bare-bones styling. This new one really looks much more like a unique microbrand piece! Mine should be coming tomorrow.
Tbh, it's gotta be this slightly-modded copper sandwich dial Vostok I used to own. I was liquidating my collection so I sold it to a guy who doesn't even like Vostoks and just collects watches for potential value... (why was he buying Vostoks for value? Who knows!) but even though these things are pretty disposable I still kick myself about that one!
