Choosing a Grand Seiko Quartz! Help!

Hi fellow watch enthusiasts,

I’m on the lookout for a Grand Seiko 9F Quartz watch, as I just get drawn to their precision and attention to detail.
Also I love the idea of having a watch that will always be ticking and always be on time!
What are your thoughts on SBGN003 vs SBGV245 vs SBGP001?

grey dial!!!

·

The third one is the one that Mr. Talking Hands owns if I'm not mistaken, and that man handles so many incredible pieces. So think about it 😉 but the most important thing, go try them out in person, always in person 👌🏻

·

I like The case and dial of the 001 the best (although I actually prefer the black and yellow color way of that watch a bit more), but I’m a bracelet guy so I would go with the 003. Have you considered the 005 with the blue dial?

·

i like the grey dial with a blue hands, i dont know why i never into gs gmt haha

I've got the SBGX261G 37mm black dial which is probably the only watch I own that I would never sell.  That gray dial looks interesting but I've never seen it in person.

·

Prefer the grey dial. Trying to decide myself whether to go for a grand seiko quartz or spend a bit extra for a basic spring drive. Unfortunately don't think the grey is available here in the UK or the problem would be solved

·

Wow, they are all beautiful, but the GMT, that is a show stopper if you ask me.

Talking hands owns that one, because  he got a screaming deal on it. Not because it has anything over the others.

The GMT SBGN003 is the one!

Alrighty 👍🏻 as I said, it's always essential to go check out your next purchase in person before making any decision, always.

Interestingly I am also looking to get a GS GMT Quartz. I am going for the SBGN003 because of the black dial and orange GMT hand. What functions do you really want? if you need a 2 time zone watch then get the GMT. Anyway I think silver dials are a bit flat and personally I find that legibility not as great as darker dials.

Really?  That's awesome!  Did he get first dibs on a used one that came into Watchfinder?  That would be the best reason to work for that company.  Whatever comes in, you would get your muddy paws on before anyone else!

You could close your eyes and not pick a bad Grand Seiko. Get the pretty one.

I’ve already got a nice looking blue dial sports watch, so am looking for something different to add to the collection.

245 is my favorite GS

·

Definitely the 245. 200m water resist, that beautiful brushing and gray dial, can't beat it. One of my grails.

·

A friend of mine got the GMT and i love it and not only because i love the GMT complication haha the watch is super well made and looks great!

·

The SBGP001 or the SBGV245 have my vote, just depends on if you want something a bit sporty or a bit dressy. As an owner of a SBGX265 (the blue dialed smaller version of the SBGV), everyone should have a 9F watch in their collection.

·

Out of those 3 I would go with the 003.  I own the SBGX341 and love it.

Have you considered the SBGX343? It's similar to the grey beast (lumed hands, case design) but has a versatile matte black dial.

·

Always loved the SBGV245 but since it's has been discontinued, the price skyrocketed and good luck finding one at a reasonable price. It's in my saved searches on few websites

·

I’d try them out. I have the 003, but I think the grey dials look pretty good too. I use the GMT function, but there is some dial face options with that too.

I have the SBGN003 & 005, they are two of my most worn timepieces. They can go from sporty to semi-dress all in one watch. The 39mm case is great and the 9F quartz is the best. No matter which one you choose you are going to be happy with Grand Seiko!

See if you can find the SBGN013. It’s a dressier version of the 003, in that the bezel is clean and thinner, while the 24 hours markings are on the outer track of the dial.

Been thinking of a GMT watch for myself lately, and this one really catches my eye.

I think the grey dial is discontinued.

How did you manage to find a 19mm strap?

Ooh that’s a sexy strap!

Have you considered a Citizen Chronomaster?

·

biased- but recently picked up SBGN003, when I had no intention of going that direction. And I have no regrets.

·

My vote goes to the 003 (just bought mine 3 days ago :) awesome lot of watch and quality you get at that price point imho. If you have not pulled the trigger the 003 is already end of production (I was lucky to find a mastershop that still had stock). The successor model 027 that will go on sale beginning of September looks also nice but a little plain since the gmt hand is white/silver.
