Rolex or VC

Which one is preferred?

I’m not a yellow or rose gold guy. I’d have to say the VC is my choice between these two. The day-date is iconic sure but I’d prefer a platinum day-date.

VC because I hate rose gold

·

VC. The dial layout is far more elegant IMHO.

Neither. Both look tacky

VC all day, every day.

VC all day, every day.

I was about to type the same thing... VC looks classier, and is from a brand that is actually luxury, not "new rich" luxury.

·

VC blows the Rolex away

·

VC because i dont care for the day window, i also like the lume on the VC. Lets be real, though, who would deny either one as a gift ? 😍

·

Of course, VC

·

VC without doubt.

I do too except for my BB which has gold accents on the dial. Other than that I do agree, to me it’s more feminine.

I agree, it does seem more refined and also stealthy at the same time. I only recently discovered VC within the past 3 years and wow.

·

Oh damn. Between these two. Either. However, if I really had to choose one, it would be the VC.

I too like to drink drinks in a grumpy manner. I think when you do that you look mysterious. I’m also writing this so I can get that stupid badge so don’t mind me.

Vacheron

Rolex day-date is so iconic, I love the VC but my choice is done ..

Honestly no idea off of the top of my head but I’d say probably $30k price difference with the VC being in the ballpark of $80-$90k but I could also be way off. I’ll probably take a look in a bit, but I want to say the day-date is around $50-$60k.

I purchased my 40mm day date at Hal Davis (they are on Idaho steet now) about 18monthes ago for msrp of 36k plus tax I believe. I also bought my new Two Tone Date Just there recently. The first Datejust was purchased from them in the late 70's. We lived out in Eagle and I had my office on 18th and state street.. Boise has gotten way to busy for me now..LOL

Interesting, actually the Gold President came out in 1956 far from (new rich) and has been my watch of choice for the last thirty years I started with the older ref 18238 (I believe that was it) and recently purchased the new 40mm DateJust. There are other pieces out there that are more expensive etc but if i ever want to sell mine I can always get wht I paid for it... But i believe it will go to my son and he can sell it...LOL...Enjoy the hobby..this photo is of the old one on a leather strap. The early watches had hollow liks and had a tendency to stretch ,

Yup Hal Davis haha. I also got a little watch pouch from them and kept one of my bulovas in it till I got a new watch case recently. They were really nice and treated me well there.

VC because I’ll see less of it in Vegas.

·

Vacheron for the win! 🥇

·

Vacheron Constantin 👍

·

I've never seen a VC in person so I can't say for sure. I like them both.

·

Rolex all dayy 🥰🥰

·

I really like the Rolex, but this isn't a fair comparison. VC operates on another tier. VC to Rolex is like Rolex to Seiko.

·

The Rolex looks a bit tacky, but that may be partially to do with the rendering of the rose-gold. I have a few steel-impersonating-rosegold watches that look fine IRL, but real rosegold may look worse, idk. I am not a fan of Roman numerals on wristwatches to begin with, and this datejust dial firmly falls into that disliked camp. On my dresswatches I prefer a framed date window over a chamfered one, so that's another point to VC. I like the day complication on the Rolex, but overall still a clear win for the VC.

VC for me.

Personally I’m not a fan of rose gold, with that in mind I do love my Tudor BB that has rose gold gilt. But a full rose gold watch absolutely not my style and my Tudor BB is probably as gold as I’ll get ever for the foreseeable future. I much prefer stainless steel or white gold/platinum.

You really think so? I think they’re close but VC is much more prestigious to Rolex. I mean VC is part of the holy trinity second to Rolex but at the end of the day Rolex is a contender 100%.
