This was a birthday present to myself. I have been preferring dress watches a lot more lately because I just find them more comfortable than divers. T...

Having several watches in the same situation, your post was very close to me 😂 I keep coming back to the 556 on a short list. How did it end up on the chopping block? Upgrade or just bored with it?

I picked up this handy set of drawers for all my watch stuff. Gives me space to put carrying cases, tools, cleaning supplies and serves as a great place to keep the time grapher.

I picked up a blue dial variant direct from seestern and couldn’t be happier. The first watch delivered (about 3 weeks with standard shipping) had some problems; minute dial was non responsive. I was provided a return label and had a perfectly working replacement in about 3 weeks. couldn’t be more surprised by their service at this price point (and coming all the way from Hong Kong).

As far as the watch goes, I have two gripes that I’ve not heard from others. The first is that the crystal really needs some AR coating. The second is that the indices lume is sufficient but much stronger than the hands which are very weak.

I have never really been into busy dials or chronos. I think these watches are perfect because I can enjoy a mechanical chronograph without spending $1500+ and these being handwind, are generally much thinner than other entry level options.

It’s the Houtman Pilbara. Runs a miyota 9039 and also available in a very interesting stone dial with the text printed directly on the crystal.

Best strap for different watches?

So I have a collection of straps. I’ve convinced myself not to be tempted to get rid of a watch, until I’m sure the strap/bracelet is not the problem....
