Let me know your thoughts about Invicta!

So Invicta is controversial or do they go on their own way? Bunch of homages or original designs? Harsh or art? What do you think?

Invicta created their own lane attracting the average consumers with flashy designs and watches aimed at sports fans, cartoon fans, Etc. They do have very hidden gems here and there.

Nothing to say

Not my cup of tea

·

If you can pull it off - go for it! Respect! But this watch is not for me.

·

I mean for the price you pay.. might as well get a proper and presentable watch that would probably be more reliable as well

·

Invicta is a bit of all that. They have made many controversial decisions. They have designs for everyone, some big and bold while others are classy and subtle. It's all personal opinion at the end of the day. Unfortunately popular watch media is good at hate mongering against anything that doesn't fit their tiny style bubble

Well, if it shows time, I'm okay with it. But, if we're talking about this certain model here, there are way better alternatives, hell from Invicta themselves!

Not my cup of tea

To each their own, I can respect that

@got_time_1 here we go again…

·

Each to their own. I love my #invicta #divewatch They are simply doing their own thing, some like it, some don't.

·

They make really good boat anchor's ....

That’s not tiny. But it’s style!

Just a quaint little 52mm

They make em, people buy em. They must be on to something.

I love my pro diver, and even some of their originals, but I was very biased against them for a while for their garish sizing and weird pricing structure.

The naysayers are far less than the actual fan base. It's just that the negative ones have a louder soap box to scream from. All the while the actual customer base are quietly enjoying their watches

Some people here don't know that Invicta has normal offerings, such as these Grand Divers, one of which is my WRUW for today :

The case quality is excellent, with beautiful transitions, the 120-click bezels line up, they use solid, reliable NH35A movements, screw-down crowns, the crystals are sapphire, they have milled clasps, solid end links, have 300m of WR, and some are even gold PVD plated. If it had any other brand name on the dial people would talk about them differently. The naysayers here haven't even owned one.

My "review" of a Grand Diver: https://www.watchcrunch.com/Pallet_Fork/posts/grand-diver-24875

The Pro Diver is the smaller brother of the Grand Diver - still an excellent value - and I discussed one here: https://www.watchcrunch.com/Pallet_Fork/posts/the-invicta-pro-diver-12167-25427

There are many, many positive YouTube videos of the (more popular) Pro Diver. The Grand Divers are not as well known.

Yes, we all know Invicta makes some wacky stuff, and there are going to be examples put forth in this thread of "Here's an Invicta and why they suck," but it's unfortunate that they still negatively judge and dismiss the ENTIRE brand because of it - it seems very closed-minded.

Others will talk about how they're Chinese-made - and they probably are - but so is San Martin, and I don't see the same level of hatred leveled towards them. The Chinese can manufacture anything, and with whatever level of quality you want them to do, depending on your product goals. Just look at your iPhone.

The Swiss Invicta of the past is not the present Invicta, we all know that, and their MSRP tags are silly, so what? They present some quality, affordable divers, many of which I've purchased and can vouch for.

A thread like this arises every couple of months because the search feature here sucks, so we go through this time and again. See you in a couple of months when the next one pops up.

Before I became a watch aficionado my idea of Rolex watches came from years of seeing the gaudy bling hanging from the wrists of scurrilous stock promoters and and rock artists I never listened to.

I am still not a fan of Rolex watches but I understand the brand much better now.

That’s not tiny. But it’s style!

The larger and most influential in watch media tend to only talk about watches that are "classically designed". Can it go with a suit, business meeting or country club. That fits none of my lifestyle and that's OK. You know me, I don't drink the Hate-o-rade😎

I think you can wear that to all Simon. You da man

Invicta brings any people happiness. I day they make homage knockoffs, funky stuff and they are absolutely awesome! The fake 900% discount codes offered on their watches fool a lot less people than the suckers that buy the Emperor's Clothes version of Invicta...

Agreed on the pricing.

As much as I love my garish monstrosity, I would NEVER pay MSRP.

Under $200US on eBay tho? All day err day. 👌🏻

There is a watch for everyone. I have found plenty of Invicta's that I like and some that I don't, like many other brands.

These are the two I currently own.

Perhaps over 13 years ago, their massive sales and designs of their watch resembling the one I wanted at a cheap cost had me buying few. Then I visited a watch club get together on 32nd st. And 5th ave in Manhattan that had me feeling so down. I had my favorite blacked out Invicta pro diver and people were saying how it’s a cheap copy of their watch and that I should save up and get an Omega. I ended up buying a Seiko right after because that’s all I could afford at the time. Times passed but I still can remember how shitty I felt when I left. So since then, I compliment any kind of watch because it was their choice and who cares what people want to wear.

Invicta has literally thousands of styles, from the garish monstrosities that everyone harps on (which is actually a VERY SMALL portion of their offerings!) to sports team collabs, to their lauded Rolex homage dive watches.

The simple truth is:

Their watches, by and large, feature Seiko movements on the low end, and ETA movements on their high-end models ("reserve"); and they're built pretty solid, and last, and keep reliable time.

Their customer service is non-existent. They farm it out to a third-party repair company that charges you an arm and a leg for shipping, no matter if it's under warranty or not. For repairs, you're better off either just buying a new one, or taking it to a local watch repair shop.

I love my Invicta Pro Divers, Grand Divers, Sub-Aquas, and Aviators. All of those product lines are traditional-looking, non-gaudy, inexpensive watches.

There is a lot of watch designs here! I have a difficult time thinking that most people would not be able to find at least a watch or two they like. I have gotten about 5 and now I am looking for a more typical Invicta that wears big and is more decorative.
