Vent- OMEGA AD RIPPED MY GS

walked into the Omega shop in Beverly Center, and the only AD in the store saw that I had my SBGN003 on. And essentially talked shit about me paying the money I did for a quartz movement lol Kind of ruin my experience, but still got on the wait list for the 38mm Aqua Terras coming out soon lol

Oh, man!  I've been there.  Yeah, the manager we talked with was a bit of a meathead.  Sorry you had a bad experience.

·

That GS is a great watch! I don’t think the Omega AD knew what he was talking about. And it’s a shame he treated a soon-to-be customer like that.

·

How insecure and just plain lame on the part of the AD, who's supposed to be a professional. Anyone who has to put down someone else (or another product) to feel better about themselves (or their product) isn't worth my business.

Dude total meat head lol

Makes me wonder even more about that boutique and the people they've hired in the past. I had an appointment with AP a few weeks ago on Rodeo and holy crap was the SA as hostile as ever. She worked at that Omega boutique before coming to AP.

If people are curious, I can go in-depth and make a separate post/rant on how miserable that experience was.

Many of those watch stores in BH are pretty much that way. They are not watch enthusiast they are sales people that go through brain washing training. I think down in Pico they have a decent watch store with all brands those are much better they have 300 Seiko's to Rolex and Omega.

·

That behaviour was atrocious. No sales assistant ever has the right to talk shit about you before even hearing you speak. You should complain and get a voucher from omega ;)

Really? What place is that, I'd love to know 😃

I think feldmars ? Can’t think of any ADs on PICO, unless I’m wrong, if so, what store ? lol

·

It’s appalling that people can behave like that, however nothing will change if people then support that business as a response to poor customer service.

If you had taken your business elsewhere it would have made a stronger statement about how you were treated at that store. As it was you just enabled that behaviour to continue with the next customer.

·

Vote with your wallet and buy elsewhere.

Awesome, thanks I'll check them out 👍

It‘s only his opinion…doesn’t mean it’s true

·

F that guy.  Do you have another AD option?

·

Joke's on him when Omega comes out with their own super-accurate quartz movement

·

depends on whether you have the patience to educate him on GS 9F quartz but i guess no point wasting one's breath on someone who is limited with his watch education. i have had enough of hearing stupid comments about quartz but i have learnt to live with it....these people exist and we just have to accept/tolerate their ignorance....

I always wear my Casio F-91W-1XY when going to Rolex AD to bring in vintage pieces for servicing ✔

i like to wear my casio g shock when i visit watch boutiques because immediately i can suss out who's really a superficial snob vs who is genuine and sincere in serving a customer. and the things they tell me....i like to act stupid like i don't know anything about watches and omg the lies and inaccurate nonsense they tell me....i die a little bit inside every time but it's some sick fun i enjoy

·

It's knuckleheads like that which ruin the whole experience. Someone with a $20 Casio can love their watch as much as someone loves their $50K Patek or Rolex. Who cares. It's how the watch makes the owner feel that matters and whatever someone wants to collect and what someone is willing to pay for it is nobody's business but the collector's.

·

Forgive the uninitiated.

·

I've only visited 2 la de da ADs in my travels (only one Omega). I walked in with a cheaper watch on my wrist each time. The only one that I ever felt like I was being judged in was a the Rolex dealer in Vegas. Maybe that's what triggered the start of my Rolex dislike as this was back when they sold stainless steel dive watches in store and they were just ridiculously over priced not insanely overpriced lol.

I can say there is no way I would have given this place any business. Although I'm well off financially these days there was a time back when that wasn't the case and I'm overly sensitive to that kind of thing. Drives my wife nuts as I suspect I get a little stupid about it.

·

I’m still laughing at the waitlist for an AT. By the end of the year they will likely be at all the reputable greys for 20%+ off.

·

I dress like a hobo but wear my Blancpain when watch shopping.  I’d like think it makes them remember the old adage about not knowing if someone is rich based on their clothing.  I hope it throws them off their game and makes think I’m secretly a millionaire.

·

Unbelievable! I'd probably consider getting that A-T somewhere else.

·

That's terrible! All the Omega boutiques (and AD's) I've been to in London have been kind and polite. I even came in w/ a swatch when I bought an Omega and the people were cool with it.

That AD's behaviour is just flat-out unacceptable. Can't believe there's AD's like that. Imagine wearing an Élégante tho, that will humble that AD.

·

I would just go to a different boutique or AD.

·

That's beyond absurd.  Not a good look.

·

Must be a new guy. I'm no salesman but the absolute last thing I would do in his shoes is rip anyone's watch. Omega boutique in Chicago complimented my Orient Kamasu and they didn't have to as a comparison.

·

That's horrible! I'm sorry about your experience. Mine was far different. I went to an IWC boutique once while wearing a new Tudor Black Bay Ceramic and the guy I know there got hyped about the Black Bay 🤣🤣🤣 despite having his own opinions about Tudor himself, he wasn't condescending in any way. We had some fun chatting about Tudor watches while he showed me several new IWC releases.

Hope you can have better experiences in the future!
