I have a philosophy to only buy a watch to commemorate an event or milestone. I think it makes the watch a little more special and I'll be more reluctant to sell it because of sentimental value.
I want to share this semi recent acquisition that I bought to celebrate my 40th birthday and a career milestone. I've always dreamt about owning a JLC and the Master Chronograph Calendar really caught my eye. I consider it a "bargain" given its pedigree and complications. Although I consider myself lucky having dodged all the recent significant price increases from JLC.

There have three watches in this category, this is the most complicated one. Congrats. very nice one.
Absolute stunner your a lucky son of a gun…!!
WOW!

I tried some of them. The Polaris Chrono was too similar to another watch of mine. The Calendar in silver and the blue dial were too formal for what I need and the geographic didn't appeal to me.

Thank you. I'm looking for straps to match it. I don't see many examples online with non-JLC straps to take inspiration from.
Huge fan of JLC. That watch is awesome!
Stunning piece man, enjoy it in good health.
Amazing piece 👌🏻
I try connecting my watches with my life events:
Bought the Pepsi for my 40th birthday
The Todur Royal for being offered a partnership at my firm
Does getting a watch as the silver lining to a stressful and unpleasant experience being stranded overseas with covid count?
Really really nice JLC. Congratulations!!! It gives ideas for my 40th coming up next year 😎
My only milestone watch, 5th wedding anniversary
Congratulation to your Master Control. Looks stunning and great choise to go with the bracelet👍

Thank you. I was hesitant with the bracelet coz it looked blingy in the photos but it didn't look bad in person so I decided to get it and I'm glad I did.
Amazing watch!
Wear it in the best of health!
2 of my milestone watches are JLCs too.
First is my reservo, which I bought when I first moved to Switzerland so I had "S" for Swiss engraved at the back.
And Second, an Atmos, my first step into world is clock :)
Congratulations on reaching a milestone and I hope you wear your new JLC in good health. I was considering a JLC for my milestone purchase but decided to purchase a Girard-Perregaux instead. I wrote a post about it here: https://www.watchcrunch.com/lifestyle_nyc/posts/my-first-haute-horlogerie-timepiece-218621

Brads clock :)
Congrats! I bought a new Speedy to celebrate my upcoming retirement from the Air Force! I wear it nearly everyday! And my kids know it as “Dad’s Moonwatch!” Other watches have come and gone but I think it means so much more to buy a watch for a milestone. I think I’m now on that same path moving forward.
Such a great watch! Enjoy it in good health so more milestones can come. :)
I applaud your restraint. I do believe in it as well but I often find myself getting what I want, when I want. I'll admit, that does water it down a bit. I do like your approach. Excellent choice.
Excellent choice...beautiful watch!!🎯
Stunning JLC, looks even better in person.
Congrats and lots of great reasons to celebrate, fantastic watch to commemorate your 40th . 🎉🥂👌
