Photography Sunday again!

Still learning, and I must say I love how this makes me appreciate the watches so much more. Since I am down with a cold, I kept it simple today by practicing a shot which doesn't require a lot of setup. Really happy with how a couple of these turned out, especially the VC. The IWC shot was a bit of an experiment. Not sure how I feel about the result just yet.

Input and tips appreciated, as always!

Beautiful timepieces! Love the JLC.

·

Nice collection. I like how you got the IWC indexes and hands to pop and contrast with the dial. The JLC gold tone looks beautiful as well.

·

That shot of the Navitimer is amazing. You’re able to show off all the colours.

·

Outstanding work 👏 out of interest how are you setting up to get both hands in the shot?

·

it!!

·

JLC…🤤

·

Do you have three hands or something? Because I see one hand connected to the wrist, one hand holding back the sleeve and sleeve and another presumably taking the photo.

Fantastic group of watches. A+++ collection.

·

I Have 0 skills in photography and only take pics with my celphone. How do you prevent any reflections on the crystal and case? These photos are so sharp 😍🤩

·

The photo of the IWC is the best (IMO) but the watch I liked the most was the JLC.

Bluetooth wireless button in my left hand. Cost me €5 or so, an absolute bargain which enables dynamic shots!

I only started learning photography a few weeks back, and these shots are all taken with a mid-level phone (Pixel 7a). In short photography is more about lighting than anything else, as I understand it, and I have read and watched quite a few guides. Watchstudies on Instagram is my main source, if you're interested I could link some more of the guides I use.

Nice job across the board (and great watches too). I think the photos of the VC and the IWC speak to me the most. The first is well lit with my only feedback being possibly try without your right hand in frame, and allowing texture of sweater to drape by a bit. The IWC could help to with the exposure increased a wee bit but I like the overall moodiness of the scene - the remnants of a winter sun just kissing the tops of numerals, hands and bezel against (what appears to be) a snowy gray day. Keep it going 💪

·

Damn, those 4 make an amazing collection! Congrats.

That JLC looks amazing!

What is the ref?

It is the old Master Ultra Thin Date, went out of production last year I believe. The new one is this: https://www.jaeger-lecoultre.com/us-en/watches/master-ultra-thin/master-ultra-thin-date-pink-gold-q1232511 The reference for mine is Q1282510. The differences are subtle: When viewed side by side, the newer reference has greater depth in the dial (e.g. the date window has an applied frame). I'm not really sure which I'd prefer, but I am super happy with mine (especially considering I got it before the crazy price hikes at near half the cost of what it's going for now).

Thank you!

I feel i like the old one even more. Very clean and i like the nonframed date window.

It's also worth noting that the old one is also slightly larger (40mm vs 39mm), which suits my wrist well (I have a fairly large wrist at 19,5cm).

Thanks a lot, it's very valuable with feedback as specific as this 🙏 Just to make sure: By the other two, you are referring to the JLC and the IWC, right?

Yes

·

The „IWC experiment“ is the one I like most of the shots

·

Beautiful collection 👌🏻

The VC! Love it

·

Wow fantastic photos and in particular I think that shot of the JLC ultra thin is one of the best shots of that watch I have ever seen! Stunning mate.

·

Banger of a collection! I really love the VC in steel and blue!

Thank you! I am surprised it's not held in higher regard (that goes for JLC in general, but particularly for the Master Ultra Thin collection) by more people. It's an absolute stunner. When I decided that this was the one I wanted, I had it next to a GP, a VC Patrimony and an ALS Saxonia. In my opinion it was the best looking watch of the 4. I had also tried lots of other watches, from Grand Seikos to Omega DeVilles. The only one I didn't see in the metal that might've been a contender was the Patek Calatrava.

I didn't see this video until long after I bought the watch, but my thoughts largely align with the ones expressed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0dRotgvUZM Amazing video by one of my absolute favourite watch youtubers!

I Gave watchatudies a follow. Hehe. Thank you for these links🤗

·

A beautiful and classy collection🤝

I like all pics but JLC stands out to me the most.

Your experimental IWC pic, to me needs a little more brightness, but I do love how you captured the indices!

Hope to see more soon…
