Watch-in-a-Box OCD

Call it an efficient system or OCD, we all have our very own idiosyncratic way of organising our beloved watches. Tell us how do you keep or plan to keep your watches in the Watch-box? Below are 20 possible ways to help start you off. Do you…

  1. Not use a Watch-box and leave them anywhere and everywhere?

  2. Not use a Watch-box but keep them in their Original box or pouch or roll instead?

  3. Simply find an available slot in the Watch-box and stuff your watch in there?

  4. Arrange in the Watch-box according to when you acquired them? (I do this)

  5. Arrange in the Watch-box according to the dial colour?

  6. Arrange in the Watch-box according to strap type together? ie. Leather strap, Rubber strap, Metal bracelet and etc.

  7. Arrange in the Watch-box according to the case material? ie.stainless steel, bio ceramic, titanium and etc.

  8. Arrange in the Watch-box according to the type of watch together? ie.Dress, Divers, Chronographs and etc.

  9. Arrange in the Watch-box according to the Brand of watch together? ie.Rolex, Seiko, Hublot and etc

  10. Arrange in the Watch-box according to the Brand in alphabetical order? ie.anOrdain, Baltic, Brew, Citizen and etc?

  11. Arrange in the Watch-box according to the price or value of the watch?

  12. Arrange in the Watch-box according to the production age of the watch?

  13. Have a different Watch-box according to the dial colour?

  14. Have a different Watch-box according to the strap type? ie. Leather strap, Mesh bracelet, Silicone strap and etc.

  15. Have a different Watch-box according to the case material? ie.stainless steel, gold, ceramic and etc.

  16. Have a different Watch-box for different type of watch? ie.Divers in one box, Chronos in another box and etc

  17. Have a different Watch-box for different watch brand?

  18. Have a different Watch-box for different type of movement? ie.Quartz in one box, Automatic in another box and etc?

  19. Have a different Watch-box for watches you classify as Investment, Keeper, Sentimental and etc?

  20. Have a different Watch-box for different year or period of Production Age?

PS. Wanted to start a poll but I thought and suspect that some of us may have a mix of ways so I might just try to do a physical count on the results. If you are also interested to know, just put the list number(s) in your comment to help me along. Let me know. Cheers.

Arrange by watch type. Everyday, Field, Dress, Diver. My dials are mostly neutral colors so it depends on how I feel and what I'm doing that day to select a watch.

·

21 - Arrange the watches according to case size. The largest case size starts on the right, and the rest are arranged in descending size towards the left. Why? To ensure my bigger sized 42mm dive watch, and the 40mm field with crown guards, don't scratch the cases of the 38 - 36.5mm watches. 😉

·

Space watches (mainly Russian), Russian watches, Vostok, Dress, Sports, Chronos. But it's pretty flexible.

·

by country of production and then from sportier to dressier!

....Keeps $25K worth of watches in a plastic organizer I got for $2

8.

·

I arrange by style roughly from most casual to most dressy. I don’t arrange by strap/bracelet because most of my collection has multiple straps and bracelets each.

·

All are hanging from hooks by the door in no order but the favorites gravitate to one side.

·

I arrange them by dial color. I’ve also done it by purchase order in the past.

·

Arrange in the Watch-box according to the type of watch and in alpha order

·

Watch box in descending order of belovedness.

·

Organization is probably less of a concern for those who have a box of 8 or fewer watches.

That said, within my watch box I order by movement type so I can see the evolution from pocket watch...manual mechanical....automatic...tuning fork... automatic chronograph...quartz digital... quartz analog...quartz solar... spring drive

·

A mix putting them wherever in my watchbox, just making a distinction of automatics on the top row and quartz/solar on the bottom row.

·

I have a 5-watch box for my most often worn watches. Which is a problem now that I have 7 watches I wear regularly. So my 2 dive watches have to co-habitate with vintage and digital watches in the big box.

Love it. Where did you buy them?

Amazon in Canada. They were not too expensive, I think about $80 a piece.

Nice setup. 💯 I'll have difficulty replicating this though, as I have much less timepieces, but have 5 separate boxes for my many bracelets and straps. 😜

Haha, long live bracelet and strap monsters! 🍻 Funny, when I showed my lady these pics, it dropped her jaw, and she said, "Ohh my... that IS a lot!" 😂 What she didn't realize is how deep those boxes are, hiding the actual amount. 😜

Number 4. For me, I only got a box to persuade my wife to let me buy more. 7 empty spaces….

Hehe, it's more of I learned the hard way. Got some small nicks on the left side of the case of my smaller watches. When I saw those scratches, it was like...

Sorta, most of the left side is quartz with some mechanical whereas the right is mostly divers and retro style watches, all mechanical.

·

Uhh... just buy a watch box and stuff thrm in whatever way you want...and beaters hanging by hooks by the door or bedside haha

·

Never thought about this one. Rather by coincidence I'm at #4 right now, but #8 sounds good to me as soon as my collection grows a bit
