I don't see how anyone can do 1 watch only.

So I was sitting here making a list of different watches that are out there. There may be more but I can't think of any right now. As you see I'm missing a couple of types unless I already have the racing oh wait I do if I consider the tudor chrono

I'm missing Pilot, Field and Gada, but have no plans to add any either of the first two, and I don't really know what a Gada is.

You can add, Overpriced.

Most people are one watch only. We are strange ones.

This is so true

Missing a “Gshock” category

·

GADA, automatic, quartz, and funky can also be under categories already listed. A diver is a GADA and can be funky quartz and automatic to many categories that could be narrowed down so it isn't so overwhelming 🤣

Missing a “Gshock” category

That could be under digital I suppose

·

Aqua Terra GMT Chronograph. It’s waterproof like a diver, legible like a field watch, has the tachy, dressy if you want, sporty if you want, everyday wearable, refined and funky at the same time

BINGO!!

Wish I knew where this mentality came from that we have to have a collection that abides by certain rules, like “no more than one from a brand,” or “check every complication box,” or “have one watch in every category of dressyness.” It’s frankly ridiculous and just drives spending! This is a personal watch collection not a horology museum.

I’ve recently come to peace with the fact that I like what I like and there’s no reason I shouldn’t have a collection that’s all versatile sport watches or emphasizes a brand I like. It’s freeing.

I might join in, I’m graduating college in May, attending the Indy 500, traveling a bit and starting a new job. I think with strap changes my Nodus can handle it all

·

Stay off social media? What am i gonna do all day? Be productive? Pshhhhh🤪

It’s a real challenge. But its not happening right now.

It’ll happen in May.

This was last year’s challenge

This is interesting... Looking forward to hearing about this, this year. 😁

I'm pretty certain that in the 21st century, all watch types beyond "casual," "dressy," and "durable" are just marketing categories and styling tropes.

Um, hell no!

Without wanting to sounds like a complete d**k, I think I can tick every box you’ve identified. The “vintage” box is missing both from your list and my watchbox - but I’m still not entirely sure if I’ll ever find a vintage that really works for me.

·

You can if you get this. Curtain closer :)

Chrono and racing are the same in my opinion. Nonetheless, I’m happy to say I have them all. Unfortunately, this means I have a problem

I think I want a "modern vintage" you know those watches with the gilt dials.

·

This is essentially the same idea:

No dress watch as I almost never dressed

·

I mean you can collapse almost all of these into just 3 watches

·

I looked in my watch box, here's what I have:

Pilot

Moonphase (with GMT)

GMT

GMT

GMT

Worldtimer

Pilot

Diver

I don't understand why people have all these other categories 😂

·

Zero interest in getting a watch from every category, the "box ticking" style of collecting has never appealed to me .

Could easily do just one watch, find it hard not to wear any of my favourites for days on end, but make a conscious effort to maintain a level of variety!

To each their own 😉👍🏻
