New dress up and dress down watch

Hello everyone,

This is my first post and I want everybody's opinion on my next watch. I thought for sure I would want a Tudor Royal since I'm wearing a suit every day to the office. But as I looked more, I started drifting towards the Pelagos as well as Grand Seiko and Omega. I want a watch that I can take not only to the office but also on vacations. Budget is $6k.

Welcome to WC!

GS SBGH273: $6,300

Delicate looking, refined, gentle color, with a 10 bar water resist.

Alternatively,

Omega Aqua Terra 38 mm

Bright, but not out of place with a nice colorful tie, with a 15 bar water resist.

If I had your budget, one of these would be my choice. Or a teakwood AT. Or a GS spring drive.

6K buys an awful lot of watch or multiple good watches. That gets you a Pelagos and a Monta/Oris/Nomos (insert your favorite $2k watch).

To your point, you can get your choice of most GS. As for Omega, the new Aqua Terra also fits the bill for work and play and one I would consider strongly in that price range. If you try, you can perhaps also get an OP41, granted that will be a little tougher.

You can go off the beaten path and look at micros like Horage:

Welcome to Watch Crunch & Enjoy!

The Tudor Royal is interesting. IMO, something that wears to work, weekends,  anywhere,  has a few options at 6k.

The new 39mm Pelagos brings you in under budget,  more versatile,  Titanium = tough and light, in house COSC movement,  new bracelet & clasp

Black Bay Pro = so awesome Same movement at 39mm Pelagos and lots of other pluses

Or, Omega with so-----o many options at 6k

Aqua Terra Tons of color options

Small Second with a Bajillion option

Globemaster - stretch on budget new but pre-owned in the ball park

Railmaster Seamaster

Grand Seiko SBGA211 Snowflake

This dial and case finish are stunning! Spring Drive , a GS favorite,  Titanium,  Zaratsu finish,  strap monster . I owned one and very sad it's gone

SBGJ203 High Beat GMT

IWC Mark XVIII under budget and awesome

There are so many great watches in your budget.

·

Longines spirit? But GS and Omega would be great places to look for a dressy GADA-watch 😊

·

Railmaster would be on my radar at that budget. Or possibly a GS spring Drive of some kind.

·

among those brands on your list, I would recommend Omega 3861 moonwatch. Can be dressed up and down and easily paired with different kind of straps.

GS is nice but I am only a fan of their dressier designs.

·

I'd ask what kind of atmosphere you office is because unless it is super strict, most people won't realize the faux pas of a non-dress watch on your wrist.

On the flip side, I like congruency when I pick out my wardrobe so... as many mentioned, Omega's AT seems like the best watch. Alternatively you could get a Pelagos and go with a Longines/Tissot/Hamilton dress watch for <2k.

·

I think if you are looking for an all rounder you're not going to do much better than the Aqua Terra.

In this price range though i'd be tempted with the GS shunbun

Somebody say "Grand Seiko"???

Of what's been on here so far, I say Railmaster.  Or lean in and get an orange DOXA.

·

I would maybe check out the Oris Aquis cal 400.

Your choice is dictated by the size of your wrist which you did not mention?
