My Baltany is an excellent alternative for me. I like that the dial colour is way more interesting then the black of everything else. It is finished great, amazing crystal and AR, runs within Cosc and looks beautiful 😍
I think I would have gone for the Traska but indices look very pushed to the outside of the dial and it’s all I can see each time I look at it. Having said that, I do think I will be getting a Traska sometime soon.
As this is going to be a list of the usual suspects. I'm going with a unicorn 🦄 a watch I wish they would re release in it's original 38mm with a 20mm lug width size
Waiting for my San Martin SN021-G to arrive. To me is the perfect balance between the 1016 with the OG numerals and the newer explorer models with the aplied indicies. All in a 36-37mm case and boxy sapphire crystal 😚🤌 *chefs kiss*
I thougt that this was the new Alpinist 1959 that I had for about a month and I could not get used with its thickness , but I see now that on this one the date in at 16:30 and the Prospex logo is missing - so I don’t know this model …

Big fan of the Nivada Grenchen Super Antarctic
Seiko Alpinist reissue
TGV and Marc for Island Watch did a collab for a limited edition (should’ve pulled the trigger.

I know about the Island - TGV colaboration - looks interesting !
Traska Summiteer. No doubt. I'd argue is more Explorer than the current Explorer.
Not too affordable buy an option, the Ranger.

The closest (almost clone) is the Cronos. The best modern interpretation IMO is the Casino Edifice.

Stunning! What bracelet is that?
Steinhart fits the bill for me
Sinn 556 or 856
This was my choice over the explorer.

Tonnes! That new Farer in the black dial at 36mm is worth a look though
Sinn 556 or 856
I love the Sinn 556a - the only problem for me is the size (I prefer a 36mm case)
This was my choice over the explorer.
It is the best choice over the 1016 in my opinion ! but the 36mm version that I prefer is at a premium …

Ps: its like 320 dollars
This watch scratches that Explorer itch for me.
Doesn’t do a thing for that Explorer II itch though. Guess I’m going to end up scratching that one directly. 😎
What a great watch. Like the Explorer I, Omega should have such with this DNA. The Modern version is nowhere as appealing!
Lorier Falcon III

it has a Sinn 556 vibe to it :)
very good watch, but a bit too thick for my liking (especially on leatherstrap)

Thickness is all crystal bro, doesn’t wear tall at all
