I don't know what to say anymore, man. My mind was blown 😅
Absolutely - I hear it said how white dials wear larger, chapter rings close down the dial visually etc., + lug to lug length obviously being a definite factor. It's fascinating to see 'em side by side - it's remarkable. I'd swear the SMP was a mm larger (at least) by looking at them on the wrist.
Another point, the Breitling is quite a bit thinner so it sits lower, casts less shadow, nestles (visually) into your wrist. On its own no big deal but combined with the other tricks helps make it appear smaller.

Those are two good looking watches. Does the Breitling look smaller in real life? It looks smaller in the pic and I’m digging that.
Wow. That Brietling looks very wearable.

It actually looks smaller than the seamaster. And it looks good in person imo

It is! It even looks good in person
I saw that Breitling Superocean yesterday on a customer but the teal color and it looked amazing!
I'm kinda surprised that the Breitling is smaller than the Seamaster
It’s amazing how tidy that 42mm Breitling looks 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
This pic goes to show that specs on paper are only that, specs on paper.
If possible try stuff out, or try out similar styles before making the proverbial, "Nope, I can't wear xx size watch."
Great pic! 🔥🤙🏻
I'm not a huge Breitling fan but the SO is a very nice watch indeed.

The optical illusion of it is 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 interesting hey? The bezel + chapter ring and the blue dial really shrink it visually.

I think the lug-to-lug length is also smaller

They share a lug to lug actually - both ~ 50mm. The Breitling is actually a half a mil longer at 50.5mm.
It's interesting how the SuperOcean wears visually smaller despite being 1mm wider and a little longer.
It's a real lesson in trying watches on, hey?
I like this thread.

That’s one of the only Breitlings I like and boy do I like it. That thing looks great.
Lovely watch
Only thing, the Brietling is and feels a bit on the thick side, if I recall well the time when I tried it on
That Breitling looks amazing.
