Don't listen to what other say 😂. By all means take advice ,but ultimately it's your money and your decision.

Depends what you are looking for.

Brands like Seiko, g shock, Timex, citizen and many more.

Dress, or diver or chronograph.

Just have fun, ask any questions. There are so many knowledgeable and helpful people on this platform.

Welcome to the madness

Buy the watches you like, not the ones the internet tells you that you need.

·

RUN!!!

·

Buy a watch box.

·

Take your time. It is not a race.

·

I would urge you to stay affordable until you figure out the answers to these questions (This is not a complete list, happy to have others add their own).

Quartz or Mechanical/Automatic?

What complications do you like/use?

What size watch works for your wrist?

How do you feel about homages?

·

Be choosy and don’t fall for hype

·

Beginners course here.

·

Take your time.

·

Go slow. Stay in the affordable range until you know what you like. I use a Placeholder concept. I will buy an affordable homage watch to see if I like it. Then if after awhile I like it, I buy the real one and sell or gift it. Enjoy.

·

1. Start small

2. If 50 bucks extra is going to give a reliable brand go for it

3. If watch need to be imported, import it rather than getting bad quality

4. Get a watch to wear. Even when collection is your motive

5. Be ready, watch is supposed to get scratches with wear.

6. Say no to fashion brands

7. Have proper measurement of your wrist, you will be off on first few instances but that's okay, it will not be like too much.

8. You don't have to have service place near you, world is advanced now so can get checked in most of the authorised watch sellers.

9. Don't rely on photos , watch videos on different channels with different light conditions

10. Lastly watch collection is an art, so everyone have different taste. Don't need be a teddy to be a collector

·

Try it on before you buy it!

And always ask what discount is available/ what is the best price the retailer can offer

Instead of buying go out trying and looking at all watches and brands,to see what you like and what fits, save a lot of money and disappointment finding your fit and taste before you buy,go pre owned, always research the watch and seller as best you can to make sure everything is 💯.Don't forget about import charges tax 🙄don't buy a watch because you think other people will like it they don't care, don't forget you have two wrists don't need a million watches 😂have fun 👍

Orient, Seiko, Citizen, Helm for brands.

Actually wear your watches, even your most expensive ones. No such thing as an "investment". Actually enjoy them, get some scratches and all.

Get what you want. If you like what some recommend, do it, if you want to get that HOOGE Invicta, do it. 😂

Quickly 😂

... and never look back!

Essentials would be buy what you like/ignore the noise, DYOR and spend only what you can immediately lose without any financial consequences. And if possible try them on the wrist before buying

Anybody can convince you that you should like a watch, but nobody can dictate what you actually love. My advice to you is to buy what you love ... Buy watches that you feel a connection with, that define you, that trigger an emotion. There's nothing worse than staring at your watch and realizing "OK, this watch is all the rage on the internet, but I really don't see what the big deal is ... I don't get it!"

Also, under no circumstance are you to ever consider buying watches as an investment; it is not. 99.9% of watches lose value over time, some less than others in relative terms, but still ...

Great advice! Thanks

Segregate the concepts of "owning a watch" and "appreciating a watch". It's an expensive trap that you can fall into when you convince yourself that you can only appreciate a watch once you own it and that you should own every watch you're keen on appreciating.

A great point! Thanks

Watches are like fishing lures to fish. Some are flashy. Some are tasty. Some are irritating. Some are curious. If you bite you will get reeled in. Be thoughtful and just get one watch to wear everyday. Take your time. Look at everyone else's watches and save your money, or until you find one that really calls to you. Be aware although watches are small and don't take much space, have a secure and hidden place to store them. Duane.............Black Diamond, WA. 98010

Right! THANKS

It's not a competition. Each of us has our own unique situation, in terms of what appeals to us, and our financial ability to indulge in the hobby. Buy what you like and what you can easily afford, and don't let yourself get sucked into the hype.

I will heed your advice. Thanks

  1. Buy specs (complications, quality,materials) not name/brand

  2. Buy the design you like, regardless whether it's marketed to your gender or not

  3. Worry less about size and colour

  4. Do some research and get as much information as you can, might save you some money

All great points, thanks
